Need help asap. Does anyone have pergo flooring??

Pros and cons??

I REALLY love the look of wood in the kitchen and running through the living room, but right now we live in an Apt. and I dont want to invest the money in real hardwood floors.

Anyone have it? what do you think of it? any problems?

TIA!

I have it, it's very pretty but it's hard to keep clean/spotless.

PROS:
* Easy to sweep
* Allergins less than a carpet
* Prettier than a rug (imo)

CONS
Footprints all over the place, shoes, wet feet, sweaty feet (ewww) streaked all over the floor.

Wet Swiffers make the floor streaky. Mr. Clean and all of those cleaners also streak. The only thing that works is White Vinegar and hot water and using a sponge mop in 'straight lines' down the length of the floor. Then as soon as someone steps ... guess what! Yup footprints.

my parents have it in their kitchen...it's held up very well. Easy to clean, looks good, I think it chipped once when a plate fell on the floor

I have it and I agree with JAN05's pros and cons and btrfly's comments on chipping. In addition to the cons, I feel like it scratches pretty easily..

IMO. I would not get pergo floors in a house. I own a condo that originally had all carpeting, so I went the cheaper route by getting the pergo floors because we knew that we were going to live there short term. If you have a house, I would spend the money and get real wood floors.

FIL's have it... the sides are starting to peal up... they regret getting it... if they could go back they would have invested in wood to begin with... but they also have a house... i dont know if I would put all that money into an apt... it does look better than tile though...

if you have even floors and know someone go get yourself ceramic tile instead. In fact if you go to Home Depot there is a vendor that cells ceramic tile that looks like wood. They are 6'x12' cermic planks that look like wood planks. That's an option.

we have pergo floors in our living room that the previous owners put in a few years ago. we haven't had any problems with it at all and i don't notice any streaks or footprints. maybe it depends on the color of the pergo. and i always wash with my hoover floormate so it squeegees it dry and doesn't leave spots. i also know that it's the real 'pergo' brand and not laminate flooring made my another manufacturer. i don't know if that makes a difference at all. we have a townhouse and aren't planning on staying very long so the pergo is fine with me. if i was to buy a house then i think i would definitely invest in real wood. but if you are just in an apt and don't want to spend the money i would go with the pergo. the other thing is, it looks nice, but it just doesn't have the same feeling or sound when you walk on it as real hardwood.

I have pergo and I hate it. It was put in before we bought the house. It's coming up in areas and in the entryway it's warped because of the wet shoes/snow. I would NOT recommend pergo. It's not that much cheaper than real wood. I'd love to redo all the floors but we live in a townhouse and don't plan to stay forever.

We have pergo and 'other' laminate type wood floors in 2 rooms, none have chipped or shown marks from cleaning. One floor is about 10 years old and looks pretty much the same it did when we installed it. The only downfall is that you see so much more dust on the floors than you would with carpet. I seriously just cleaned my bedroom on Sat. and by Mon. it needs to be cleaned again.
I would go the laminate floor route. JMO.

we have pergo in my mom & dads house for the bedrooms and it is AWESOME!!!

I love it for bedrooms but for heavily trafficked areas I might go w/ real wood floors...

In my bedroom at my parents I have WilsonArt flooring and it has held up amazingly well! This brand was recommended to us by a family member for its toughness! My dad even left on board out in the rain for weeks and it didnt warp at all! I have had it for about 6 years and have not had any issues with it! it cleans well, hasnt chipped and doesnt seem to streak!

My ILs have pergo and again I havent noticed anything! Maybe it does have to do with coloring though because we both have light wood and I have not noticed streaks or anything!

And to the person who commented on it getting dusty. My house has real wood floors and I feel the same way! It is a pain. especially with a dog who sheds! But for those of us who have allergies, carpets are pretty evil!!!!

I was thinking about getting the Pergo floors. I thought they were supossed to be great. Every house I went to look at, they seem to list it as a selling point. I guess I should re think.

My husband owns his own flooring company and REFUSES to install or sell pergo floors. He feels they should be for a quick fix only. He always tells his customers that they're better off saving up money to get real hard wood floors, they are so much better in quality

I feel like pergo is an entirely different look then wood floors, you can def tell a visual difference

For an apt, I wouldn't invest in hardwood, it's too expensive. For a house yes, not for an apt. I put down HD traffic master laminate flooring, and it is wonderful in my condo! I wash it with the solution made especially for laminate floors and it makes it shine!
Don't forget hardwood has alot of maintenance too, can chip, dent, scratch too.
