So ... to get our marriage license today...we need FHs birth certificate. He was born in Rockville Centre so it takes 48 hours to get a certified copy...sot hat's out, since his original was mailed in to get his passport. Now, yesterday everone was saying that we could go to Queens with only our licenses and get our marriage license... Does anyone have a phone number for ANY of the places that DO that? I really need to try to get it today b/c FH doesn't think he'll be able to take off from work again... AUGH. This is sooo annoying. Please, someone help! As many numbers as I can get I will call ... PLEEEASE?!?!

Does he have his baptismal record? If so you can use that - see this link:
I was going to just post this.....He needed the bapt. cert for the church right....that and his drivers lic. is good.

OMG 48 hours? That's rediculous! In NYC its the same day... i had mine in less than 5 minutes! ARG! Too bad you can't go to NYC for it! I'm sooo sorry Dani! I don't know anythign about marriage license places... but GOOD LUCK! I hope it works out. I'm hoping to see a post later on that you have the license!

Yes this is true! i just had to get mine from the church... and they can get that for you immediately. Just call the church he was baptized in... to get that or... doesn't he already have it because you need that for the pre cana stuff and all your church paperwork.

if he is catholic then yes he was baptized unless his parents never did any of the church things. All you do is call the parish office and tell them the situation and you can pick it up.

THanks for all your help girls... I'm having him confirm with his parents where he was baptized... and I'll do the rest. I hope he gets an answer soo so I can call the parish. Would they need him to be present to pick it up..?

No he doesnt have to be there but can he call the parish...and then he can tell them you are picking it up...FH's mom went and got his for him

YAAAY! I got a hold of the churhc...we can pick it up today... So now....WHAT place can I go to when I have my birth cerf. AND license, and he will have bapti. record AND license...??? Any exact location or phone numbers...???

A couple who intends to be married in New York State must apply in person for a marriage license to any town or city clerk in the state
So go to one that is convenient to you..where are you????

Niiiice! Thanks everyone for your help! We're going to pick up the bapt. record in Merrick..then shoot back over to Islip to get the License. I confirmed with that office that a bapt. record can be OK in place of a birth cert. and they said yet. So I think we are all set to go. I'm leaving work about 12ish...YAAAY! I'm actually going to have our marriage license today!!! WOOO HOO! Thanks again to all!!!!
