Need help by 5pm -- Bridesmaid related!!

Ok so here is the dilemma.....
'';
My fiance and I have selected who is going to be in our bridal party. Everyone has been told but one of my bridesmaids.
I want a simple yet creative way to tell her I want her to be my BM.
'';
Here is the small problem....
I have know this girl for 20 years and I have a feeling that she thinks she will be my Maid of Honor!!! I want to tell her in a nice way but nothing over the top where she might get the wrong message.
'';
My idea thus far consisted of this.......since she is Irish I though about taking her out to dinner tonight as an early 'St. Patties Day' dinner and while we were eating present her with a small poem that could relate to St. Patties Day and incorporate some thing about her being a bridesmaid!! Since she is Irish I though about ending the poem somehow with ' Erin go bridesmaid' instead of the traditional 'Erin go Brach'!!
'';
Girls, I know you can help me!!! I have to do this by tonight for two reasons......1. We are having an engagement party in 3 weeks and the invitations are being sent out Friday. I want her to know before she gets the invitation. & 2. I would have to change my whole idea about the St. Patties day thing and start from scratch!!
'';

Please, Please Help!!!!
Thanks so much in advance!!!!

Sincerely,
Angel

I think what you have planned is very cute. She will prolly be happy to be apart of it and wont mind not being a MOH- but I dont know her. What is the relationship of who you are having as your MOH?

Hopefully she will be happy to simply be a PART of the bridal party....but i know how some can be...some of my bridemaids are mad about things...and im like, ok if you love me, you will support any decision i make!

She will understand!

Anyway, your idea is super cute! How did you tell the others?

That's a really cute idea, I think she'll love it!!!! She should be honored to be a BM, even if she's not the MOH a true friend will support you no matter what their 'position' or 'title' is.

ETA: You could always have 2 MOHs tho, just an idea, lots of brides do that!

I think that's such a great idea!

Don't worry about her getting upset that she's not the MOH. If she's expecting it when you've never even told her that she was going to be your MOH, then you have no reason to feel bad/worried...it's her own fault! Hopefully she'll just be happy to be in the bridal party.

I should be embarrassed to post this but I'm at work and this was a fun little thing to think of anyway how about something like this in a card

Tonight our dinner is celebrate St. patricks Feast
He is the Patron Saint of that green country to the East

Tonight we will eat drink laugh and chat
About our 20 year friendship and how we did this and that

But the most important thing I have to say
Will you please be my bridesmaid on my Wedding day?

Re: Need help by 5pm -- Bridesmaid related!!

WOW!! This was my first post ever and I didn' t think I would get a response so quickly!! I am extremely elated at the quick turn around!!!

Thank you so much for all of your help and encouragement on this matter! It really means a lot!

To answer your question Gina, My MOH I have know all through out college and I work with her now. So all in all we have know each other for 7 going on 8 years!

There were many reasons why I picked her over my BM in discussion. The relationship I have with my MOH is so different from that of the BM. We just get each other and we see eye to eye! She understands me and I totally trust her to help me when I need it whether it's small or large!! Plus she just got married so she knows how to help me where as the BM has a lot on her own plate at home to take care of. It's not that I don't trust the BM it's just that, she is all over the place mentally and I need someone to help me stay grounded if need be. You girls get me right?!

To respond to MissAlissa,
We took our MOH & Best Man out to dinner as a thank you dinner. You see...they were part of my engagement!!! ''; My honey sent me on an 'Amazing Race' around the city to find him finally at the Empire State Building and they were the ones who gave the clues out along the way. Anwyay...... since they thought it was a 'Thank You' dinner....they really had no clue......so right before dinner was served we had presented them first with 2 messages in a bottle ''; each with their own poem me for MOH and him for BM. Then they received 2 thank you gift bags. In hers was a star box engraved with her name on it & MOH '08 and in his a pen & case with his name on it and Best Man '08. They were both very touched....they even shed a few tears....of happiness of course!!!

The other brides maid I sent her on a scavenger hunt around her house ending up in her room where she received the same bottle with her own poem. She was so excited and honored to be asked! It was a wonderful moment!!

The grooms men both got a picture game poster to figure out. For 'Will' we used a picture of Will Smith
For 'You' we used a picture of the animal the Ewe
For 'Bee' we used a picture of a Bumble Bee
For 'My' we used the letter 'M' plus a picture of an eye
For 'Grooms' we used a picture of a dog getting groomed + the letter 'S'; and for
For 'Men' we used a picture of a group of men standing together.
They both cracked up and happily accepted!!
'';

Finally to MeNBobs:

Thank you so much for the adorable poem idea!!! You shouldn't feel embarrassed at all!! It was great!!!
I read it to my fiance and he thought it was perfect!!
Consider it a part of my letter to her!!! Thanks a bunch!!! =) '';

Thanks again to all who helped!! You al have truly made this much easier for me!!! =) Any other suggestions feel free to message me again!! I am new to the chat rooms but I hope to excel quickly!! '';

Always,
Angel

I had a similar situation, and I told my friend (the one not being asked for MOH) was that I was recently in a bp that was very crazy, and there is a lot of stress associated with it, and I was going to ask my other friend (who is already married) to be my MOH bc she understands the stress and pressures (she knows what she's getting into). I told my BM that I knew she had a lot on her plate right now, and I didn't want to ask her to make such a commitment- especially when she doesn't know what she's getting into- and asked her to help the MOH w/ shower, etc., as well as do a reading during the ceremony.
