Hello! I am fairly new to these boards as I've only been engaged since June 30, my FH and were planning on a March 2015 wedding initially, giving me plenty of time!
But after discussing this with FIL's they didn't see the need to wait and want a May/June 2014 wedding , It will be a blended American/Hindu Wedding.
Problem is I don't know where to start! We will be having about 225-250 people, and I know we are really cutting it close in terms of timing, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really trying to avoid a regular Hotel wedding, but I don't want our guests to feel to cramped in a regular reception venue..

I think you can still find plenty of nice reception halls that can fit up to 250. i know my room at Chateau Briand can hold over 300 actually. I would suggest doing some research and calling some venues to see what their max capacity is.

We want to keep it below $175/150pp, FIL don't want this to be a 'factor' but I don't see how it isn't. Must be nice!
Check out Bourne Mansion! I believe they can hold up to 375.

Try Carlyle on the Green also...went to a wedding last year with 285 and it wasn't cramped at all. Gorgeous and falls in your budget!

Heyy Congrats on being engaged! and welcome to the site! We all go through the same crazed feeling when we start planning. Don't worry, just take a breath, relax and move forward. Some popular places may be booked, some may not. If your not too strict on a specific date, even more options will be there.
search '400 max'. Should be the first thread. I started one a while back with similar issues, a lot of the ladies gave manyy suggestions, might help.

I am not sure if you want to go to Westchester (right by City Island) Glen Island Harbour Club is great. Crest Hollow, Jericho Terrace, Larkfield (new) try those.
