I was wondering where all of you guys went dress shopping. I know that most of you prob went to look outside of the city andI totally would not mind that ( I live in the city). So any recommendations in Manhattan or outside of Manhattan are greatly appreciated...
Also what kind of experiences did people have with Kleinfelds...it is so intimidating for me...
Thank you!

Re: Need Help-Dress Shopping
I recommend Wedding Atelier on 5th ave around 17th street. I got my dress there. So did a friend of mine a few years ago and she had a great experience.
I also walk past the Pronovias store frequently to get to the subway and the store looks great! It is off of 5th ave on either 51st or 52nd, I can't recall.

Re: Need Help-Dress Shopping
I went to Kleinfelds durring their sample sale...and I was on a budget. I found a gown I love in my price range. See my album for pics. I liked it there but I think if you go when there isnt a sale you get much better customer service.

The selection is pretty good at Wedding Atelier -- obviously no where near as extensive as Kleinfelds, it is a much smaller store, but I found everything I wanted really quickly. I really liked the smaller store atmosphere better too, because sometimes too much choice is NOT a good thing! But I also knew what I wanted (I was probably in and out of the store in about an hour with my dress picked out and everything). If you aren't sure, you might want to start somewhere with a huge selection just to figure out what you want.

Being that you are in the city, def check out Kleinfelds and Bridal Reflections. I went to the Bridal Reflections in LI and had a great experience there so far. Good luck!

I bought my dress at Kleinfelds .. they are great!! Very kind and attentive. If you tell them your price range from the start they wont show you dresses that arent in that range ... I went to RK Bridal for the BMs and MOB dresses and they are gorgoeus there too! Def check them out

Re: Need Help-Dress Shopping
A coworker of mine used to work at Kleinfeld...she recommends a sales girl named Jenny Cara. A girl on here went to Jenny and said she was really sweet and helpful, and wasn't putting any pressure on her to buy. If you call Kleinfeld you can request her specifically. FYI when you make an appt there you have to give them a credit card # b/c if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice they charge your card 50 bucks.
I hear Priscilla of Boston in NYC is really good too.

But PS I fell in love with Wedding Salon of Manhasset, so thats where I would highly recommend you go. Ask for Rosemary to help you. She's great. I'm ordering my dress with them next week.

Re: Need Help-Dress Shopping
i've been to Priscilla of Boston and Kleinfelds. i LOVED Priscilla's store. its on the second floor of a building so the elevator opens up to an all white store...its very cool. the fitting rooms are HUGE, the attendants are very nice and not pushy at all. I went to their website before i visited and picked out the dresses i wanted to try on (the website is awesome). i tried on a ton of beautiful dresses...but nothing that i LOVED-loved. so i went to Klienfelds which was much bigger and less personal...but ppl were just as nice and all they wanted to do was please me. in the end i found a fantastic dress and bought it there.
have fun!

I found mine at Bridal Couture of Manhasset.... I got a 10% because the designer was in that day, a few hundred dollars off...

I agree. I didn't expect to like Kleinfelds but I had a really wonderful experience and not only found my dress there but found a lot of runners up. The POB and Melissa Sweet dresses that I've seen online are goregous so I would also try there. I went to Wedding Altelier but thought the store selection was very small so I was in and out in under 30 minutes!
