need help finding a church for an East Wind reception
Any East Wind brides out there or brides that know the area? I grew up in LI but currently live in the city so I don't have a church in LI anymore. We are having our reception at East Wind and I'm wondering two things:
1 - any suggestions for nearby catholic churches that will marry non-parishioners?
2 - how far is too far to ask people to drive from church to reception? our reception is @ 7pm so it seems we have a good chunk of time to allow for driving but I don't want our guests to get annoyed.
Where are other East Wind brides having their ceremony?
Thanks ladies!!

Our church was in Huntington and reception at East Wind. I know there is a very nice (from the outside) Episcopal church in Center Moriches, There might even be one in East Moriches as well. Why not have the ceremony at the RH?

You can try St. John the Baptist in wading river. they will marry you even if you don't belong to the church. East wind is about 5 minutes away!!

yay Laurie! that's my church too (it's my family's church though) but it's literally 5 min from East Wind...the church is only about 10 years old and it has lots of natural light, very nice

Re: need help finding a church for an East Wind reception
I think my mom called St. John the Baptist yesterday but the latest mass they can do is 1 or 2pm since they have 5pm public mass on Saturdays. Since our reception doesn't start until 7pm and the earliest we can get there for pictures is 6:30 -- we don't know what we'd fill the in-between time with.

Did you have an evening reception at East Wind? There is only 30 minutes allowed for pictures before the cocktail hour starts so I'm wondering if there's anywhere else around East Wind I could take pictures between church and reception, and what other EW brides ended up doing. THANKS!

Yeah, the latest Mass is at 2:00pm on Saturdays....if you do a ceremony you can do it at 3:00pm. I think that's pretty standard as lots of churches have a 5:00pm Saturday mass.
There are a few places you could do pics in WR, but none that are like private.....there's the beach, duck pond area.....all public areas though, but might yield some pretty pics.....that's really odd that you can't go to East Wind earlier than a half hour before!

go the diocese of Rockville Centre's website. you can look at a map there of all the parishes on the Island and see which one's are close to the East Wind. my BIL had his reception at East Wind and had their Mass at St. Louis de Montfort,

Re: need help finding a church for an East Wind reception
I'm getting married at a church in Lindenhurst at 2pm and East Wind reception starts at 6:30. It's kind of far apart, but there was really nothing I could do about it. Don't worry so much about what your guests will do in between. If they're staying at the hotel it will give them time to check in and get dressed--everybody else will figure it out =)

Try St. Louis De Montfort in Rocky Point/Sound Beach.

My church is Bay Shore United Methodist.. it is a 45 min drive. I figure the people who want to come to the ceremony and then reception will.. if not.. that is ok and we will see them at the reception. Most of FH's family and some of mine are from Nassau or the City,, so they pass the church on the wau anyway

My brother got married at east wind and went to a church right by. Probably about 5-10 mins away. It is in wading river right off 25a. I do not remember the name but I will ask my brother and get back to you but the church was beautiful!

Re: need help finding a church for an East Wind reception
I think that's probably St. John the Baptist, but the latest mass they can do for us is 1-2pm which leaves a 5 hour gap between church and reception.
I am now thinking of choosing a church slightly further West to get a later time, and also people might not notice such a huge gap if they have to drive a little from the church to check into their hotel and get ready, etc.
Am looking into St. Patrick's in Bay Shore, St. Joseph's in Babylon, and a few others. How far do you ladies think is too far to drive from church to reception? 45 min? 60 min? Most of our family will be driving in that day so the church would be on their way in to Long Island and then they would use in-between time to check in to hotels and get ready for the party!!

That's what I would say they are a pretty liberal church. And only about 20 minutes from EW
