so back a few months ago my 20 year old cousin had been dating this girl for two years. she's 18 now. i asked her to be a BM bc i knew they were a couple and i thought it was a great idea at the time.
fast forward to now.. i havent spoken to her in months and they broke up. she hasn't showed any interest in preparing for the wedding.. i even bought her dress for her. her and my cousin are still 'best friends' though but since they aren't dating i don't see the need for her to be in my party. she could be gone tomorrow with the way things are going for them and then she'll be in my pictures forever.
so i want to write her an email.. she's away at school.. and tell her i dont want her in the BP but i still want her at the wedding.
can someone do my dirty work for me? what should i say! i'm clueless. TIA!
eta that she dumped him.. idk if it matters. but still. i just want a polite way to express how i feel to her

Re: need help firing a bridesmaid
She is probably waiting for you to let her off the hook.
I would just call her emails can get tricky. I see too many misunderstandings and big arguments start from email. People can't hear your tone.
I would just call and say I was thinking about the wedding I know you are busy away at shcool and you & cousin aren't dating anymore. Its a big commitment all around to be in a wedding and given the circumstances it may be more fun for you to just be a guest. then just see how she responds I think she will be happy you called.

Ohhh I stink at this stuff...but I do think calling would work a little better.
Every way I've come up with in head so far is being a big chicken, but I am just not good at firing people.
Good luck!!!!

I would call. Letters can often be taken the wrong way and if she and your cousin are friends it may cause problems with your cousin and you.

yikes! this is why i am so glad i have such a small BP - i think it would be best to call, like someone else said, she probably is waiting for you to let her off the hook....

Yikes! That's a toughy! I personally think you are making a right decision. Down the line your cousins 'best friend' is not someone you need in all your photos...sticky situation though
Just call her and say you haven't heard from her in a while, and although you think she is a great person, due to the circumstances of her and your cousin not dating anymore you think it's best if she attends your wedding as a guest rather then a bridesmaid?
