NEED HELP FOR MY COUSIN!

My poor cousin has 2 beautiful little daughters and he promised them a puppy this weekend. He went to North SHore after having submit the paperwork and THEN having the girls pick out a puppy, they told him they couldn't verufy one ofhis references and that he can't reapply for 30 days. He's pissed cause now he has 2 crying children and there's no reason they couldn't verify the reference.

Anyway, he also checked BideA Wee and Brookhaven and for whatever reason those didn't work out.

Anyone know anywhere else he could go to get a puppy today?? THey have a great house, stable home, he's a cop, his wife stays home... I don't really know why he's having trouble finding a puppy.

ETA, apparently Brookhaven didn't have any puppies,, just older dogs, and they want a puppy.

What kind of puppy? You can check craigslist and Kijiji classifieds if your cousin gives up on adopting...

My family and I adopted from north shore 12 years ago (she's still alive and well) and then I volunteered there all through out h.s. They probably called one of your cousin's references and asked him/her a bunch of questions that correlated to the form your cousin filled out. They will reject if the answers don't match up.

My friend for example, was rejected from adopting a kitten because on the form her mom wrote that they're cat ran away and when North shore called a reference, they said my friend gave the cat away.

They will really question your pet history so they know you're not the type to give up a pet etc.

They also did a surprise check up a couple of months after we adopted our dog!

I'm sure your cousin's reference said something that didn't match with your cousin's form. Probably miscommunication.

eta: be careful with craigslist and kijiji...make sure the person doesn't meet ur cousin at some corner to drop off the puppy. You want to see it's living conditions and meet it's parents to check their health and demeanor and that it's not a backyard breeder.

I found my pom's breeder on kijiji. We drove to her home and she raises one litter at a time and we met both the parents. If you're not adopting, i think this type of situation is ideal

http://www.lcarf.org/index.php is another website a guy i work wiht adopted from them. they are fosterd and you can search by age.

Since the adoption places are mostly closed by now, he decided to wait for another day. I just feel so bad cause the kids are heartbroken, they really wanted that North Shore puppy!
