my scanner keeps giving me an error message that the port is being used, but my PC has a designated port for the scanner. My printer plugs in separetly. The scanner is old, but it's been hooked up on this pc for several months with no prob. I disconnected & reconnected the wires-no luck. Any ideas??????

Have you shut off both (somputer and scanner) and restarted???

Sometimes I have to close the entire prgram and then just reopen it again. For some reason I guess this as well. it will start and then freeze.
