Need help from you girls who have been to Hawaii

So we're going to Hawaii for our honeymoon and staying on Kauai-for 2 weeks. I was looking on Expedia yesterday for flights to other islands and they were really cheap, but I dont want to book anything because I feel once we get to Kauai we are just going to want to stay there and veg out after the wedding. But my ? is if we do decide we want to go somewhere once we are there do we still just book a flight thru expedia last minute, or do they have like boats that travel between the islands? Thanks

There are no boats to take you to another island. They used to have ferries, but for some reason they don't anymore. We went to Oahu, Maui, and The Big Island.
I wouldn't waste my time in Oahu. It's a very busy industrial looking city. We basically just flew over for the day to see Pearl Harbor. Dole pineapple plantation is there too, but other than that there is not much....unless you want to veg out on the beach and watch the surfers.

The Big Island was different b/c l you feel like you are walking on the moon with the volcanic rocks...but the only big attraction there is the active volcano which is on the other side of the island. And...you can't get that close to it, so it was kind of disappointing. Unless you stay past dark (which we did), you will not see any lava, just smoke.

Maui was my absolute favorite island. Although I can't compare it to Kauai, I couldn't imagine anyone not liking this place. If you wanted to veg out, you could. If you wanted to pack your honeymoon with lots of activities, you could. There's The Road to Hana, Haleakala Sunrise, Lahaina shopping, Luaus, and all the typical water excursions.

From what I've heard, Kauai is very quiet and there is not much to do. I guess it all depends on what you want. I just couldn't justify spending all that money on a honeymoon, where I was just going to sit and do nothing...You might as well vacation for cheap in Florida. I would definitely go to Kauai, but please consider Maui. You won't be sorry! =)

You must fly to get from Kauai to any other Hawaiian island. There is a ferry that goes from Maui to Lanai and Molikini.

Try to get to Maui for a few days. DH and I absolutely LOVE Hawaii - we've both been 3 times. Once before we met, our first trip two years ago for 16 days and our 24-day HM. For our HM we spent a week on Kauai and while we both loved it, it was definitely enough time. We were ready to move on to Maui (where we spent 10 days).

Kauai is beautiful and there is lots to do (hiking Waimea Canyon, hiking the Kapalua trail, helicopter tours, etc.) but the activities around there center around nature stuff. I also think it is the most expensive Hawaiian Island. There are some fantastic restaurants.
