Need Help getting motivated!

Need Help getting motivated!

So, as most brides I image do, I want to lose weight! However, I really **** at this lol. I have no motivation to get to the gym and when I am there I feel like an uneducated spaz bc I have no clue how to actually work those machines! Plus it can be such a pain to get there because I have 2 kids... My main reason I NEED to get there lol. I prefer when FH and I can go together but his work schedule is the complete opposite of mine so that rarely happens which stinks because I think I do better with the buddy system. I don't eat terribly but there is definite room for improvement. Any advice or words of wisdom any of you can share to get me motivated or suggestions on a routine?? TIA!!!

I'm a firm believer that the best way to lose weight is to go running. No crazy machines needed...just hit the pavement.

I would invest in a treadmill. I don't mind working out but the whole 'getting dressed, driving, waiting for machines sometimes, driving back etc.' exhausts me. When I lived at home and had my treadmill, i ran everyday.

Now that FH and I have our own house, I recently moved my treadmill here and have been on it at least 4 times a week which is a VAST improvement over a big fat zero. It also cuts 20 mins of driving back and forth out of the equation.
I also don't have to search for clean gym clothes since I'm not going out in public. I sometimes run in a sports bra and my underwear

If you are set on the gym, you can always sign up for one day with a trainer who will show u how to work all the machines.

a lot of gyms offer a free personal training session when you sign up so that way they can show you how to use a lot of the machines. although i agree that if you have a machine in your house sometimes it is a bit easier bc you can put on a movie or tv show that you enjoy while you are working out to make it s*ck a little less. it might also be easier if you have kids and they are young and still need naps. then you have a set time to work out and don't need a babysitter

It totally depends on what keeps you interested I think. I personally hate running and the other aerobic machines, but I like the group classes (kickboxing, zumba, etc.) and they are a great workout. I joined a gym with a class schedule that would work for me and that keeps me going. If you set up some predetermined gym time each week that might help with the scheduling and keep you motivated to go too. As far as the weight machines go, I agree, you should get a free orientation or something that shows you. Or even just try asking someone at the front desk, thats what I did and he gave me a whole little routine to work on since I wasnt meeting with the trainer till the next week.

I go to the gym during my lunch hour. and its great. I have energy and i actually want to go to.. I got o NYSC and actually have 2 a block each from my job... I use alot of diff motivation, my current one is my co-worker who is 6 months pregnant and has only gained 12lbs and has no tummy (she runs 3 miles every other day) so when im running and want to quit, i think of her.

I actually dont want to loose weight, im just a HORRIBLE eater, so want to be somewhat healthy and the running and weight lifting has been working so far.. My body is getting harder and tighter (yeeeeee bigger booty... lol)

I am the same way you are not alone! I find though that as long as Im interested or keep myself busy during the workout it tends to be not as boring hence me not doing it.

FH says that losing weight is 80% diet and 20% working out. i do actually think this is true cuz i worked out for years and always ate badly and always just maintained my weight, or sometimes gain weight. When I met FH, he pushed for me to eat healthier and with that change and my regular workouts, i was able to lose weight that i never thought i would lose!

Re: Need Help getting motivated!

Weight watchers is really helping me. I've lost 10lbs so far, but this is usually the point where I lose all motivation and gain it back in 6 months. My motivation wavers a bit week to week, it's really hard when there are a lot of places to go, parties, BBQs, having friends over.....but they have a lot of things to help you keep it up, and having to get weighed every week helps!
I'm not crazy about exercise! I can't run for anything, I can't stand the treadmill (although we have one). I've always liked aerobics classes, and now I'm doing bikram yoga twice a week (each class is 90min long and supposedly burns a ton of calories, plus you sweat out a lot of excess water weight).
You have to find something you like, or at least can stand to do. Otherwise you won't do it. And eating better is really hard if your whole household isn't on board. FH is trying to not have fatty high cal foods in front of me, but sometimes it's hard seeing him eating whatever or saying he went out to lunch and ate this and that and I'm like, I had my salad :(

I am in the same situation as you. I have two kids also and I work 7:30-3:30 as an infant teacher. I am exhausted half the time and have no motivation to go to the gym. I need to do a crash diet and I am thinking about going to WW again. I hope I can really stick to it and I need to force myself atleast 4 days a week to go to the gym. Its rough!!

If anyone lives near me and wants to go to ww in miller place at night i'll go keep you company. I lost almost 90 lbs on it and pop into meetings once a month.

Also my friend told me tonight that her kickboxing classes in selden are $10 or 12 for $90. Anyone wanna go? :)

I love 19 lbs this month. I have been working out a lot but i also cut out 3/4 the amount of alcohol i use to drink and eat amazing now. I feel so much better whether the lbs are coming off or not! (corny but true!) I have one cheat meal a week but i try not to go crazy and get all fried food and stuff but still induldge a little! It really has worked! It really takes a lot of planning i feel.
