so fh and i finally found a house we are bidding on.... We ask the realtor how the bidding will be, if its submit your best offer, or submit an offer with a chance to raise it...
she says well the seller might take the best offer, or might give a chance to counter..... ***........shouldnt it be one or the other? she wont tell us what the bidding is at..... its a low priced house yet needs like 30k worth of work done to it... plus it has no garage and no driveway! and higher than usual taxes then we still need furnature....... ughhhhh.....
i just wanted to put our bid in be first at asking price and be given the chance to match if somone else goes over.... i dont want to bid 15k over asking price if all it needs is 5k over asking......thats money that could go for furnature and repairs....
ughhhhhhhhh so frustrating

i would bid what you think the house is worth to you. if you are out bid they should come back and let you counter offer. but if you think you have to put 30 grand into the house i wouldnt offer 15 grand more then you want to pay right away. dont get frustrated if the house is meant to be yours it will be. right now im in limbo waiting for my offer to rejected on a house that i bid 10 grand over asking but it sthe only house i have seen so far that i feel in love with. where is your house?

levittown..... the house need soooooooo much work that walking through it we're basically looking at room sizes and layouts..... we did like some other houses before this, and came close to bidding but it wastn perfect.... this house if we get it we will make it what we want

Em, You bid what you think that it is worth, then they should come back and counter offer or accept your bid.
The first house that we bid on, I loved, it was adorable. We put our bid in, they counter we accepted their counter. We were told we had. 20 minutes later-- literally, we got a call that someone else bid more than us and did we want to bid more. We went to the asking price and they over bid us by a few thousand. We weren't going higher than that. We knew that we would out grow the house eventually and we weren't going to spend that much and a house that we would only be in for a few years. They went with the other offer even though those people were 100% mortage and we were putting money down on it. I was heartbroken.
Then we saw our house. I had seen it on line first and fell in love, then we saw it in person. There were 5 bids! on the house in 3 days that it was on the marker. I swore up and down we were not going to get the house! In the end they accepted ours. -- IT WAS FATE! Again we were not going to get into a bidding war so we upped our bid to the asking price and that was that. And they accepted ours. When you find 'your' house it will be yours!
Now I have passed the other house since we saw this house, they are only 4 blocks apart, and you know what I don't 'love' it anymore. It is cute but that would have worn out fast. This house is elegant and we will not our grow it!

thanks jaime.... im trying to keep the faith... so we put in our bid.... we are the 6th person to put in a bid and they already had asking price so we put in our final offer and we'll just have to see how it goes. This house is large enough that we'd never have to move from it, so im hoping.....

Just wanted to offer you one piece of advice. Don't get scared about other offers. Sometimes people fish with offers. Meaning they bid way lower then asking price just to see if the homeowner will take it. Not all offers are serious offers.
I agree with what everyone said about bidding. Just bid what you feel the home is worth. We walked away from a house that we were only $2,500 difference from what the home owner wanted us to come up to. We didn't want to pay that price so we walked away and eventually found our home. In the end we are SO much happier about the house we found. We bid on 3 houses before we got an accepted offer on our house.

Definitely bid what you think the house is worth. THEY WILL COUNTER to get a competition going. They want to make the most money that they can. You have a good chance.
