Need HELP - Picture location

Need HELP - Picture location

I just got off the phone with my photographer and because of the time of year we are getting married (November) he suggested that we stay local to take pictures after the ceremony and then head over to Westbury Manor - he doesn't want to lose daylight as we're sitting on the LIE in traffic.

The problem: I live in Whitestone and the only place to take pictures would be Whitestone Park. All my cousins and friends who have gotten married have taken their pictures there and everyone of them have similiar pictures - it's a small park - there is not many different phot opts.

Can anyone recommend a place to take pictures besides Whitestone Park (or Bowne Park) that may be on the way to Westbury but that wouldn't take us to long to get to...I just can't think of anything...

TIA

I used to live in Whitestone (are you referring to where the bridge is?) I know its similar but what about by the Throgs Neck bridge, there is that grassy area and the bridge in the background (off Utopia Parkway) or else Kissena Park. On the island you can do that park (don't know the name) on Northern Blvd. across from Macy's in Roslyn(?)

tough call. I did Whitestone Park too, for that same reason. I'll keep thinking though!

I'm from Whitestone also, what about Westbury gardens? Theres a fee but its so close to Westbury Manor or the EAB building in East Meadow, its indoors and they have a rain forest.

Thanks ladies...

I like Whitestone Park - I just had my hopes on a different location - plus if it rains - I'm in BIG trouble...guess I should have picked a different time of year to get married if I don't like my choices

i'm having the similar problem...thinking of old westbury gardens but afraid the time may be too tight...so thinking about whitestone and throgs neck. the girls on the other board said there's construction on the whitestone on..maybe they will be done by the time your wedding comes.

good luck!

I was going to ask the same question! If you have a beautiful day, the gardens are perfect to take pictures in!

That was our original plan BUT by the time we get out to Westbury Manor - we will have about 15 minutes of daylight left - max 30 minutes. Our photographer said that because there are so many trees near Westbury Manor - we would lose daylight faster over there - that a view with sunset would buy us more time...

I was looking forward to taking picutres on the grounds...but I'm not even sure how early we can arrive at Westbury Manor when our ch starts at 700 pm

I'm not sure if this would be on the way to Westbury for you but there's a park in Bayside called Crocheron Park (33 Ave. to 35 Ave., Little Neck Bay) where you might be able to take some pretty pics. I haven't been there in years, but I seem to remember a gazebo. Here's a map:
