Hello ladies, So I need some help. Here's the scenario... I already booked a hall about 3 mths ago, but after much thought, I'm not too sure if I really love it. I was looking for something with a view and after seeing all the possibilities, I am really considering cancelling the hall. I read the contract and it says that cancellations require a minimum of 50% of the total!!! Does anyone have any idea if this applies even if I have only made one payment and my wedding is still 9 mths away? I guess I want to know if there's any way to go around this. I know that it's different for the different RHs, but if anyone has any information, I would appreciate it. This is my biggest problem right now If there's nothing that I can do, then I guess I'll stick to my RH....I just told my FH that maybe for our 50th anniversary we can renew our vows and I can have the RH of my dreams...trying to see the humor in all of this. TIA!

I would talk to the RH and explain to them that you have to cancel and see if they would give you your money back. They should still have time to book another party instead of yours and then they will not lose $.

I really think that you would have to pay for half of it even if you only made one payment. Or, there might be something in your contract about not having to pay if the book another one.

Re: Need Help-Reception Hall
im an old LIW bride just looking around on here, but i wanted to reply to your post because this happened to me...i changed my mind but because of health reasons, and lost ALOT of money, AND they sued my DH and i for money after the fact as well... make sure you read the contract totally, and be careful...they are NOT your friends when you wanna cancel, only when you wanna book lol Maybe you can ask them for a credit? And save the hall for another event...childrens christening or first bday in the furture???
FM me if you have any questions

If your booked in Suffolk County you can get everything back except $100. This law out weighs your contact. Alot of girls don't know about it and loose alot of money. If you are booking Suffolk and want help let me know. I already canceled a place a few months back and after tons of fighting I got everything back, but it was worth it. Dont let these places bully you!

You should have plenty of time. A few years ago when i first got enagaged, my FH and I booked a hall a few years prior, but had to cancel when I was pregenant with my son. The people were soooo Rude to me, My mom, and My Future Mother in Law. They finally gave us our money back after afew months and many phone calls and Telling them that we were going to the better business bureau. Well they are out of business now but for other reaspns Huntington town house. You should call and ask them what the policy is just to make sure. Where did you book? good luck

Thanks...I will see what I can do. I didn't want to post the location because you never know if the vendor has reps lurking around here and could potentially make it harder for me to cancel the RH.

I was engaged a few years back and unfortunately but thankfully i cancelled everything when i realized it wasn't going to work with my ex. the rh was awesome about it. They gave me all of my money back as long as they booked the date. The date was taken in less then a month and i had a check with 100% deposit back within a month and a half!! I hope it works out for you!

I would talk to the RH to make sure but I think if they can rebook your date then you arent responsible for the amount although they may keep your deposit.
