I'm trying to figure out a solution to an issue we have.
My grandma is wheelchair bound and we're looking to get a wheelchair accessible van to transport her from her home to the church then to the reception and then back home.
Does anyone know of a place that has vans that would be able to do what I need?
Any info would be appreciated!

It might be a good idea to call a local nursing home. I am sure they have a number of references. I think we tried to arrange this when my brother was planning his wedding, I didn't hold on to any info, sorry!!!

That's a great idea. She lives at the Komanoff Center on Long Beach (the nursing home attached to Long Beach Medical Center). I never thought to ask them about it.

I think you can call the MTA and she can use the Able-Ride service.

i have a similar situation and my family is going to arrange with the nursing home to have an ambulette (basically just a wheelchair accessible van but they have oxygen and stuff in it just in case) take my grandmother to the wedding and also have one of the aides from the place come along. you may want to look into that so she can be comfortable that if she needs anything (bathroom break, etc) someone she trusts will be right there to help her.

You can call an ambulette company, like Long Island Ambulette, or National MedTrans.
