Hey girls! I need your opinions. I got engaged November and for the last 6 months FH and I have been going back and forth between the date of our wedding and RH. I recently went back to school for nursing and will not be done until May 2012. I originally wanted to get married October 2011 but that won't work because I will be in the middle of a semester. Soooo now we were looking at December 30, 2011 which is a Friday. I will have finished my semester and will have a month off for intersession to go on a HM.
The problem is...what do you guys think of that date? I have had so many opinions from people even banquet managers. One banquet manager said that we probably won't receive as big of checks we would have because its around the Holiday season. Another one told me its nice because everyone will be in the partying mode because of NYE. I don't know. I thought it was good and peope might even have off cause the holiday falls on the weekend so they might be given that day instead. What do you guys think?

honestly, i agree with the bm about it being the holidays and people may be a lil tighter with money, also a lot of people go away that time of year so you also may not have that great of an outcome, if it were me, i would try to do it right after the new year, this way most people will be back and youll still have time off from school and hopefully people will be in a better place financially

There are pros and cons to the date, but I think it's fine.
Pros: *like you said everyone willbe in party mode because of the holidays *great way to get together with extended family over the holidays *beautiful winter theme/pictures *many people will have off from work that day to attend ceremony
Cons: *possibly bad weather (that can be anytime of year though) *people may be away on vacay
I say if it works for you-go for it! And I thinkt he thing about the checks you receive is not true at all!

I guess I could be worried that people would be tighter w/ money for my wedding bc of the holidays as well, but I honestly am not worrying about it. I'm actually surprised a BM said that to you!!
Bottom line, if 12/30 works for you then go for it!!

I would just make sure you send STDs like 10 months in advance so people know to start saving for your wedding!!! otherwise i think it's fine. time of year wouldn't affect my decision whether or not to go to a wedding or to give a better gift. for me, it's more of the financial situation at the time - i decided not to go to a wedding this coming weekend just b/c i dont have the money at the moment b/c im graduating from school and dont have a job.
i don't think the date really matters. JIMO

I would go for it if it works for you. You can probably get a pretty good deal too - it's not NYE and there's kind of a lull that week....

Thanks girls. I have been stressing over this for the past week because I feel that its really time to make a decision. I most likely will go for that date. If I was invited to a wedding on Dec. 30, 2011 I would go and most likely give the same amount if the wedding was in July. I really just wanted other peoples input. I am not having a huge wedding mostly family and friends that are part of our lives on a consistent basis so really they all will be there regardless of when it is.
