Re: Need Help with a hair stylist!!!
Hi!!!
Well being a curly girl myself I have to recommend a place where I used to work. Mario Diab Salon, Carlos specializes in cutting curly hair he used to work at Devachan Salon which is also a place where they specialize in curly hair. I used to work there too. So call Mario Diab Salon and ask for Carlos or Mario. If not call Devachan and make an appointment with M.I.A., Sophie, Ana, or Jeff. Tons of people work at Devachan but everyone is not a good stylist in my opinion. If you need more info FM me.
many blessings!

I also have exteremly curly hair.
I go to Ouidad and love their cut and products. I have never used products that work on cutting frizz like Ouidad's. It's located on 57th between 5th and 6th ave.
If you don't want to travel to the city, I just found out that a stylist trained at Devachan works in Cold Spring Harbor, she specializes in curly hair and does the dry cut method that Devachan does.. I know a few people that go to her and it is half the price of the city cuts which run about $150.
If you want her info, FM me.
Carlos does great work also, he did my sisters hair for her wedding. I just don't want to trek into the city on the day of my wedding to get my hair done.

Honestly just because they have trained at Devachan doesn't mean they know how to cut the devachan way. The training is only for a day how much can you possibly learn in a day. Believe me I know i'm the inside source to that place. IMO just because you can find it cheaper doesn't mean its better. I know it's a bit anal but I would just go to see the stylist in cold spring harbor at work. I think curly hair is a big deal because of the spring factor and it usually takes a long time to grow since it coils. It's just my opinion.

my student and colleague who have just as curly hair as I do go to her and she does a really good job. She cuts around each individual curl while it's dry. I prefer the Ouidad method myself, and the products are much better. I haven't found anyone that uses the Devachan products, but the girls I know that go to the Cold Spring Harbor salon never have frizz and their curls come out great every day. You're definitely going to pay more for just entering a salon in NYC, I know this for a fact. My family has owned top end salons on LI and you just can't charge what you can charge in the city.
Its worth the consultation to go there, especially if you don't live or work in the city.

I agree a consultation would be best!

Re: Need Help with a hair stylist!!!
I've been cutting my hair with Mario for 3-4 years now and he is great! Both him and carlos are really good and I know you can find plenty of rave reviews for carlos online. I think that with either one you would be in good hands. IMO its worth the price tag.
