need help with a song pls!

Hi Brides. My grandfather, who was the light in my life, passed away last month. I grew up without a father, and my grandfather really meant the world to me. I am getting married next weekend and still can't believe he won't be there....

I was planning to dance with my grandfather for my honor dance, to 'The Prayer' sung by Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli. Since my grandfather cannot be at my wedding I asked my 3 uncles to dance with me in his honor and memory. However, I just heard from our band that they cannot sing the song I chose, bc the male singer cannot sing the tenor role in that song, or in italian. However, I think that's the only version of that song, so now I am left a week before my wedding without a song for my honor dance.

Can anyone please help? I really want a song that will reflect and honor how much we all loved my grandfather. The other trick is since I already asked my 3 uncles to dance with me I need a song that's at least 3-4 minutes long. Can you please recommend a song for me??? I would prefer something touching but not overly sad bc I know I will be crying enough already.

I asked that but haven't heard back yet, so trying to find a back-up plan just in case....

I always liked 'In My Life' by the Beatles. It's a great song. I don't know if it will reflect everything your grandfather was and meant to you, but it's not a completely mushy song. After all, you will be wearing makeup. You don't want to look like a raccoon after the song. 'One Sweet Day' by Mariah Carey is also a beautiful song. My favorite line...'Sorry I never told you...assumed you'd always be there.'

Me too... which is why I think I cannot use that song. I want it to be touching but considering I cry ridiculous amounts I don't want it to be too sad or emotional. Thanks for the suggestions though!

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. I would highly recommend Israel Kamakawiwo'ole 'Over the Rainbow' is a beautiful song and it would be a great dedication in honor of your grandfather. The lyrics are amazing, it's a really touching song and it's not too overly sad. So it would fit what you're looking for.
