Need help with activities for out of town wedding guests...
Good morning all! This is actually my first post on the newly revised website, so I hope this question makes sense! :) I'm basically looking for a list of things to do for first time visitors to Nassau County. We have a large majority of out of town guests attending our March 2004 wedding, and my fiance's family is coming all the way from Scotland! So I want to compile a 'List of Things to Do on Long Island' type of thing, just so our guests don't have to sit in a hotel room the whole time! Any suggestions for this would be really helpful - Our guests will be staying at the Woodbury Inn right down the street from Fox Hollow, so I'm trying to get an idea of things to do and see in this particular area. And Hooray!!! Our invitations shipped last week!! So we wanted to start putting them together preferably sooner than later since we'll be including these 'lists' with the invitations! :) Thanks so much for any helpful suggestions or ideas, it's greatly appreciated!

If they are in town for a few days, perhaps wine tasting? My sister has this idea for me instead of a bachelorette party.

Thanks! I hadn't even thought of wine tasting, but I'll definitely look into that!

You can go to www.digitalcity.com they have tons of activities to do everyweekend. Its a great resource if you are bored and need something to do. Maybe you can try newsday or news 12 to see if they have calendars of events too.

I would think that your OOT guests, if they haven't been to Manhattan already are going to want to go there first. Best thing is to find out what train is closest to where they are staying and then get a bunch of train schedules for them. Also find out about the Big Apple Tour Bus (the double decker one) and things like Ellis Island and Statute of LIberty (they can't go in it anymore though) and Empire State building. I'm sure some will have thought to either go on the internet and get an idea of where to go but if not you might want to find the websites (www.nycvisit.com is good) and print out a list of tourist places so they know how to get where and stuff. But the Apple Bus Tour is good because they can get on and off for one price during the whole day.
As for Long Island: they can go to Jones Beach, or Robert Moses, Republic Airport (there is a museum there I think) - I'm thinking of the museum next to 56 Fighter Group, Teddy Roosevelt's old home in Oyster Bay, wineries, Aviation museum near Roosevelt Field...that's all i can think of for the moment.
