I am trying to decide where I want my e-pics to be shot. I am stuck between Brooklyn Heights (near the Promenade) or DUMBO
I like the waterside view/city skyline view better near Brooklyn Heights, but I like the neighborhood feel near DUMBO better.
Please help, as I am not familiar with either area! Are there cute places other than waterside to take pictures in/near Brooklyn Heights?

We are either doing Brooklyn Heights or the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens...the promenade is really pretty @ BH!

In/near BH there's a nice park by the Federal courthouse. If you go by the water at the park near the brooklyn bridge, you'll have the bridge in your pics too. I love brooklyn heights!

I want to! I am worried they are too far away from each other. How far away are they? LoL I am a sad excuse for a native New Yorker!!

OoO thanks ladies! it sounds like there is a lot of nice things in/near Brooklyn Heights. Do you think my photographer will be familiar with the area? I am hoping he knows it and will know where to take us.

i agree, actually i dont know the DUMBO area but i have always loved the promenade and bklyn heights has all the cobblestone streets that you can get great neighborhood shots on. There are those streets which the dead end part goes righ up to the water and those would be very pretty! (i know there are some on the left hand side of the promenade before it starts)

Another benefit to the Promenade is by the water, you can get pics of the SI ferry and NY waterway in your background. They both have new boats and look pretty decent. The park is also a really nice photo op!

Re: Need Help with Brooklyn
I guess it depends on what you envisioned as your background. I lived a few blocks from the promenade so know the area pretty well. The promenade will get you great photos of the Manhattan skyline - the pretty downtown part. Plus the walkways that give you access from Columbia St. are prettily lined with benches and ivy. However, the bklyn bridge is still a little further in the distance. You can go down to the end of Old Fulton St. where you will have the pier there, with the bklyn bridge over you, the ice cream factory there, and some gruffer street life like Grimaldi's. Or, swing around the Brooklyn Bridge/Empire Fulton Ferry Parks where you're between the bklyn bridge and manhattan bridge, and will have both bridges plus water as a backdrop, but the part of the city skyline there is not as romantic - more like big tall concrete buildings like the verizon building. I hope this somewhat helps as the backgrounds really are vastly different between the 3 spots! oh, btw, bklyn heights also has tree-lined and brownstone-lined streets.

You might be able to do both. They are only about a mile from each other, so it would be a super quick cab ride from one to the other.
You can't go wrong with either, though. They are both really cool places for pics!

I actually live 2 blocks away from the promenade. Although it is a beautiful back drop I would def. do DUMBO (thats if you're trying to choose one over the other, if not hit up both areas!)
I think DUMBO has so many great secret spots to take pictures. I was just there this weekend scouting out some spots with FH
HTH!

Both areas are soooo close to one another. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to walk to DUMBO from my BK heights apartment.
