Need help with DIY invites....

For the ladies who did their own invites, what program did you use to create the invite? Also, did you buy the cardstock already cut and then feed it into the printer or did you buy 8 1/2 by 11 and then have the paper cut (for the rsvp cards, etc.) I want to do this, but I have no clue how to begin. TIA!

i had a lot of help designing the invite...my FH designed it through in design. it's a layered invitation. so i bought cardstock to size, had the second layer pre-cut by the manufacturer and then printed the third (top layer) on 8 1/2 by 11 white paper and cut it to size using a papercutter. it was a lot of work, but seeing your own creation come into fruition is priceless.

Created my own from scratch for my wedding. But for the E-party I just bought a cute little set from Target. They come with a CD to set up your design and so on. It was really easy.

I used Indesign which is a prof layout program. It keeps text crip. You can also you Illustrator and if you don't have neither Word and Publisher could be used.

It is always cheaper to run them two up and then cut them down but you must realized whatever your outside margin is double it for your 'in between' margin. So if you have a 8.5 x 11 page and a margin of .25 your middle seam between the two cards should be .50
