Need Help with Dress Stores!!!

Hey Ladies!!
I went dress shopping today for the first time!!! First time...how exciting!! Anyway, I didn't have a good experience and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me of a good bridal salon to go to. I live in Huntington and would like somewhere somewhat close. Thanks Ladies!!

The wedding Plaza / Ariana Studios located at 216 Jericho turnpike.

RK Bridal in the city has a huge selection and better prices then the other leading bridal shops. I believe it's located in 33st. the website is www.RKbridal.com

I am so sorry that you had a bad experience. Don't let it put a bad taste in your mouth. I went to Helen's Private Bridal in Commack. They were wonderful!!

Try them.

awww I'm sorry you didn't have a good dress shopping experience! was it the store? the employees? or did you just not like any of the dresses?

i don't have any store recommendations - FH is from Huntington but we recently moved to Philly so I haven't done any wedding shopping in NY yet!! let me know if you find a good place out there!

Re: Need Help with Dress Stores!!!

It was a little of both the store and the employees. THe woman I dealt with was very rude. She didn't seem she wanted to help me because our wedding is still a year and a half away. I was only allowed to try on 6 dresses. When I found a dress in a picture on the wall and asked if they had that one, she took away one of my dresses because that would have made 7. They only had dresses in sizes 12 and 14 which were very big on me and I couldn't tell if I liked any of the dresses because they didn't fit me right. I guess most dress stores are like that as far as sizing but the attendant was very rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. My first dress shopping experience is supposed to be fun and exciting and she didn't help with that!! It was at the Commack Wedding Center. I had heard not so great things but I didn't listen and wanted to see for myself. Anyway, thanks so much ladies!! I appreciate the advice!!

geeze... you have to wonder why people would go into this business if they are going to be rude?! i'm sorry you're first experience wasn't the best. hopefully the next one will be much better, and then you can go back to the store like julia roberts in pretty woman... 'do you work on commission? big mistake, big mistake'

good luck!

that really stinks!! you know, i heard that some of the sales people in these places work on commission and they probably see a lot of girls coming in at the year and half mark who are just trying on and have no intentions of buying. (i'm totally not justifying, i think it's terrible that she automatically pegs you as someone who's not going to 'make her any money'!

I used a vendor on here Adrieene's in West Islip. On here I have found many good and bad reviews, but my experience so far has been wonderful.

Many of these places hear 09 wedding and don't want to be bothered. The first year I was engaged I went looking once and never did it again until after the one year mark. No one wanted to help me, and of course they would say ' wow you have time' yeah yeah yeah I had to of heard that a 100 times.
JMO: wait until after the one year mark to start looking for dresses. Then you will get better service.

I liked Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. I had a great experience and they staff was very helpful. Good luck!

I personally wonder how these women are in the business when they act the way they do sometimes. They are cutthroat sometimes when it comes to making a sale and that to me is very unproffessional.

Bridal Elegance. Not only are they cheaper then most stores for the same dresses but the lady who works there is so nice. Try them out. They are under the vendor list.
