I need to finalize my list. The new school year will be my third at this school. I have my group about 4 people that i would invite. Is it rude to not invite everyone? And my mom keeps insisting that i invite my AP - but then do i invite the other aps and principal?
ETA: Im already up to 230 on my list and didnt want to go much over that!!

If you invite the AP, then you should invite the principal. It's basically inviting your bosses. About the other AP's - do you report to them as well ? How many others would you be inclined to invite ? I assume the group of 4 is the group that are your 'work friends'. Are the others in this category ?

The rule of thumb that FH and I used for co-workers was 'do you hang out with them outside of work?' If we are close enough that we get together outside of work then we invited them, if not then no.

I didn't invite my AP or any of the administration. I invited a few teachers I'm friends with outside of my department, and then about half my department (about 10 out of the 25 ppl in my dept) who are the people I'm friendliest with. I know how you feel though, I agonized for weeks over who at work I should invite.

Good rule! I would say this was the rule we used.

its a long story - i started as a 6th grade teacher and made friends with those people. This year i was seventh grader and was treated like an outsider so i definitely wouldnt invite anyone in my department. I think i am going to go with inviting just the four of my 'work friends' and leave everyone else out - it seems like the best thing to do

That's a great rule. It works for me that's why I only invited a few people from work. We've known each other for 10 years and hang out with one another.
