Need help with negotiating prices for BM dresses

Hey Girls,

Went shopping for BM dresses today and we found an Alvina Valenta one that we love. However, the price is 310 (then 10% off bc I have 6 bm's) + 75 for alterations.

Here is the thing..... we live on SI and they are really the only place that carries Alvina Valenta so shopping around is not an option. So, what I want to do is to negotiate with the lady kinda saying I found it elsewhere and to give her a price to match. So..... what price do you think I should try and chew her down to?? What is reasonable?? Help!! I want to dothe best I can for my Bm's.

Thankss!!

I think you should call other places and see if you can find it cheaper, without actually going other places to 'shop around' and then go to her with a price and see if she matches. B/c at least you wont be lying, in case she knows or checks (don't know if they actually do that) and if she wont match it, then you at least know if you should go with her price or if you found it cheaper, maybe its worth the trip...
Hope that wasn't too confusing!

Give RK bridal a call...they gave me a price over the phone that was 36 dollars cheaper than everywhere else. It's worth a shot to at least get a number with some basis.

Good idea..... I will be on the phone tomorrow! I really hope I can get the dresses for less for them bc I love them but feel bad they have to spend so much

which dress is it? I fell in love with an av dress too! but I think I am going with a different one, partly b/c of price... I know Bridal Reflections carries the line, you can check there. But I don't know if it will be cheaper.

You can even order them through RK Bridals No Frills Program and the girls can have their alterations done anywhere.

First, search the prices online and see what the minimum price is. You could always use that as a way to get them down. Two, def try calling other places as well and document prices and then bring it to the shop and let them know that you can get it elsewhere cheaper. Trust me, they won't be willing to lose out a couple thousand dollar sale. I did this with my girls' dresses and they were willing to knock the prices down.

I was told that other places will order the dress for you. Is that place really going to call someplace else. Tell her yo uare going to the city. they will never know.

Re: Need help with negotiating prices for BM dresses

Just an update..... I called like 4 other places on Long Island today and all of them have the dress cheaper!!!!! However, Long Island is just too far to get 6 girls to travel 2 (2 of whom dont drive) even if it is only to put a deposit down and get measured. Anyway, tomorrow I am going to call a place in Brooklyn who told me they would give me a price if I called back on Tuesday. Hopefully they are cheaper and then they could just order from there. If not, I have to put on my best poker face and try to bargain. I am soooo bad at it but I will do my best. I just dont know if I should tell the woman in the store a price or like tell her she has to do better and see what she says. Ehhhh
