I'm having the same problem. I think I am leaning towards more people per table but FH is set on having no more than 10 at a table - so we shall see.

Right now, my side alone I have 14 tables with 12 or less.
And I'm sure he has at least 8-10 tables of 10 or less.

I think it depends on the size of your wedding. We had a small wedding with only 75 people. I did less people at more tables, so people would have plenty of room. Also I didn't want the room to look empty. However, if your having a big wedding you may want to do more ppl at less tables.

For us it was a matter of symmetry. We had a very small wedding, just over 70, but we wanted 8 oblong tables. So I just worked it out from there based on the groups I needed to keep together. Some tables had 10 while another only had 6. Gotta say, you couldn't even notice. But if the symmetry thing was not an issue, I definitely would have done less tables.

We tried to make it that (for the most part) the people that sat at the tables knew each other. So, sometimes it meant that some had 12 people and others 8. Of course, there are people that might not know anyone so we would try to put them at tables where we thought they would get along with the other people at the table. It worked out pretty well for us (or at least I thought it did).

I said less people at the tables. I have been to countless wedding where we are squished at tables and you are bumping elbows with everyone. I made sure I didnt have more than 10 at a table...

I agree that more people per table=less CPs and more money in your pocket. However, I did it based on groups of people I wanted to sit together (ie coworkers, different groups of friends, cousins each made up one table). If the group was smaller then they went at a small table.

Personally, I hate being scrunched at a table with a zillion people and would prefer to have more elbow room. So if it's a matter of personal space, I say throw in an extra table or two.

ITA, I can't stand being right on top of someone when I'm trying to eat.
