...saw it on a website for $300 less. It is not a 'replica' dress, it is the designer Casablanca. I wrote a check for 1/2 the money at the bridal salon today, what should I do? Should I call the salesgirl and ask her to match the price? My sis told me to call the salon and cancel before they order it (I bought it today Sunday, but the bridal shop can't order it til Monday, obviously) and buy it online and get it altered at a professional tailor. I posted the pics to my albums.

i would call and tell them tomorrow. maybe they can do a price match
Call them up and see if they can do anything about it. But I would be careful about ordering your dress on websites...

First go on to the better business bureau's website and check the website of where you want to order your dress out.. Then call the bridal place and see if they can do a price match.

Is your bridal place including alterations? if so I wouldnt cancel becuase it might even out. If you buy online then you need to pay for alterations.

No, the price did not include alterations. I already spent more than I wanted, but I am not the haggling-type. I feel embarrassed to ask her to match the price or I will cancel. I feel embarrassed, but then again, I don't want to feel like I paid more than I should have.

It doesnt hurt to ask, if you dont feel confident enough maybe have a friend or mom call for you...
Good Luck

I would definitely call and talk to them about the price....I did that with my gown; I got quoted a lower price by about 400 at another store and they matched the price at the 'better' store.
It doesn't hurt to try!
Good luck!

You can call and ask..it doesn't hurt but also if you cancel you will most likely lose $$$. Most places make you put down a non-refundable deposit so you wouldn't get that money back if you canceled. The deposit might not be the entire you paid but probably close to that difference in price.

You have nothing to loose by asking for a price match. They haven't placed the order and might be willing to negotiate.
You might not get your money refunded if you cancel your order. The store might just apply what you paid towards accessories or your veil.
The only problem with ordering your dress online is finding a really good seamstress to alter the dress for you and a finding a place that will steam it for you when the alterations are done.

also watch shipping and tax.. that could add up too from ordering it online.. just another thought.

I agree. Hopefully they will just match the price for you so you dont have to worry about finding places to alter/steam it for you.

Re: Need help....bought my dress today, but....
UPDATE-- Spoke to the owner of the bridal salon yesterday, she said she could NOT discount the dress to meet a price that I found online. She cannot compete with prices from online stores that have no overhead. I totally understand that, but I asked her to discount her price, not match the price on the internet. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for a salon...$200 or even $300 more..but after all was said and done (rush shipping, tax, etc) the bridal salon price for the dress was $700 more than the online price! Originally I thought the online price was $300 cheaper, but when I called the online store, they were offering a $200 rebate, and could get the dress to me on time withOUT rush shipping charges,,,,something the bridal salon told me that they could not do. The bridal salon's rush shipping charge was $160 (before tax). At this point, I had no choice but to cancel my order with the bridal salon. She was fine about giving me a refund, less $50 for 'service charges'. I said fine, because paying her $50 to save $700, I feel was fair. She did say she would not send me a check until my check cleared. I could have stopped payment on the check, but then she would not get her $50, so she told me not to. I am trusting that when my check clears she will mail me a check for my deposit, less the $50. I was not comfortable with that, but I guess I have no choice, I will keep you posted on if I get a check in the mail soon or not. I am so uncomfortable with this entire situation! Now I need to find a place that will alter and steam my dress. Any suggestions?
