Ok i am getting married in 2006. I know what dress i want my BM's to wear, 2 have already gone to see the dress and they like it. The othres are saying i am rushing and i am way too early. Problem is I LOOOOOVe this dress so much and ithe girls that saw it really liked it also. I am just scraed they are not going to have it by the summer, so my question is...is it really too early to have them order the dress that i love?? Honest answers please!

I don't think so just be careful with the sizes because there is plenty of time to go up and down in size. I found mine too and feel the same way, 'what if it's not available anymore when Im ready to order it'! Go with your gut and good luck. Hope you wind up with what you want.

I would call the manufacturer and see how long they will carry it for.. I agree it is a little too early to make a final decision- so many things that I thought I wanted at the beginning of planning has changed since I started.

Honestly, if I were in your bridal party I'd tell you the same thing as the other girls. Why not just email them a pic of the dress, see if they like it. If so, call the manufacturer and see if they have a date by which the dress will no longer be available. If they do, tell the others that. If not, you do have SO much time. And these girls' bodies may change considerably between now and April 2006 so it's not really fair to ask them to purchase a dress a year and a half in advance.

ETS: I just saw that you were getting married in August of 2006! All the more reason to wait! The designers all come out with different lines 4 times a year, there will be like 7 new lines before you have to order, definitely hold off.

I am sort of in the same boat. I found a BM dress I (and 1 of my MOHs) love. The color ant style are perfect. I am HOPING that when the entire bridal party are here in April (for the E-Party) we can all go see it, and if they like it, we'll order them.
I would say order it. If you like it and they like it (regardless if they think you're rushing it) order it. I am sure it will be better b/c you know you're getting what you like, plus, if they put a certain amount down now, it'll offset the costs for them. Even if it's half now and the rest when they pick up the dress, that's going to be a little while, even if it is net summer.

thanks its just so tough b/c i feel like i dont want to bother my grils but they should want to go and be excited about my wedding!! I just read your other post and i am very sorry. I havent had that happen but I feel as if my bridal party just doesnt care too much about helping me :(

You can tell the store that you want that dress and they will call you if it is going to be discontunued. I would not want to order a dress that far in advance because I would be upset if it doesn't fit.

I also think it's too early.
You may change your mind by the time the wedding gets closer. And, the girls sizes could change a lot before then.

You have SO much time to plan, don't rush everything into a few months !! - And re: your BMs. I'm sure they are excited about your wedding, but you have to keep in mind it's not going to consume their every thought the way it will yours ! You are going to be thinking and planning and looking at every little thing ..........I'm sure once it comes down to the wire, they'll be there for you !! They just may not be as hyped up about it as you are over a year in advance

I agree that it is a little too early. Ask the manufacturer how long they will carry the dress, but also keep an opne mind. New dresses will come out and you may fall in love with something else.

I think you are a bit too early too. They are probably not ready to lay out the money for the dress yet.

I really doubt it's that your friends don't want to help you, they just think there's plenty of time for picking/ordering the BM dresses and they're right. If you love the dress that much I would get in touch with the manufacturer and find out if it's a style they plan on having for some time. If so, then just sit back, relax and see if there's anything else you make like. In a year if you're still stuck on this dress you can go ahead and have your girls chekc it out and be measured. Bodies can change A LOT from year to year and you're better off waiting than running the risk someone may not fit into their dress next summer.

Yes and No
If you really love the dress and it is a 'timeless' look (it won't go out of style), I say go for it.
HOWEVER,
If it is a current style then I would wait. The last thing you want is to order a dress and then hate it or fall in love with something else. Trust me, you will find a dress you love later on too....

My girls are doing their's now because I found the dress that I loved and looked great on all of them and I'm just under a year away now. So if you think you found 'the' dress for them then go for it!
