Need Honest reviews on venues
Hi All,I'm getting married at the end May of 2015 and have to pick a venue. We have looked a a bunch of places.
Saturday we have appointments at The Fox Hollow, the Thatched Cottage and the Riveria.

Re: Need Honest reviews on venues
I visited the Riviera on my venue search. I really didn't like it (sorry!). I thought the cocktail room was completely outdated (assuming you'd have it in there if it rained, etc). The part of the building in the front where the guests enter was really dated to me. Also, the ceremony outside I felt was right in the neighbor's backyard (it is technically separated by a small body of water, but you can see houses and yards through the trees).however, the prices are phenomenal, and I know people who have gone to weddings there and had a great time. I know one of the complaints is that it can feel cramped inside - depending on how many people you have, they sometimes put tables on the dance floor.
i LOVED the dark wood high-beamed ceiling and the view of the water was great!!
i have heard great things about Thatched Cottage. I was going to visit there, but canceled when I booked my venue (Three Village Inn) on the spot.

@ guitarstikibars - thank you so much. I have had so many mixed reviews on the Riveria. With our guest size, that is one of my concerns. We did look at The Three Village Inn and loved it. However, the room was not big enough for our guest list. I was so bummed, I loved it.@brnnglgn - Thank you. I have heard amazing things about the new room. I can't wait to see it.

I'm booked at the Thatched Cottage for March of this year. They let you do a tasting before you book so me, FH, my parents and FMIL all got to go and try the food and it was fantastic! We love the atmosphere there, it's elegant but without being too over the top which really isn't us, it has a different unique look to it which I liked. The outside area is gorgeous and I've been really happy working with the BM Maureen. It was reasonably priced in comparison to the other places we looked. I know a couple people who I found out after we booked had had their wedding or been to wedding's there and they were all happy with the experience and raved about the food.We visited Fox Hollow but didn't have a good experience. The room is beautiful but it was more expensive than we wanted, the person we met with was not really personable and not very accommodating. I felt rushed and I didn't like that there wasn't an outside area we could use or that the ceremony would take place in the same room as the reception. I heard wonderful things from people who booked there which is why I looked at it but it just wasn't for us.

Re: Need Honest reviews on venues
Hey I just finished my venue search.I went to the thatched cottage.
Here is exactly what they quoted me.
Saturday Afternoon in May of 2015 for an 1130-530 reception time
95.95/pp for a 150 min
93.95/pp for 175 min
Add on 20% service charge
$550 house fee
$2/per guest as a maitre d fee (this is not the tip for the maitre d)
and tax
If you are having your reception there add $1095
We ended up deciding to go with another venue because it had a later start time and we go soooo much for for our money.
Hope this is helpful
Maria

Re: Need Honest reviews on venues
I should have canceled my appointment at the Riveria and not even bothered after reading your post. It was hands down the most awful experience I have had in the venue search. There were not only unprofessional but lacked any type of customer service. The women we dealt with were awful. Thank you so much for your reviews.

This! The owner of thatched cottage is a chef. The food is amazing! I've never heard anything but good things and Maureen is a pleasure to work with.

I went to a food tasting at the Riviera and the food was very good, however, like guitarstikibars said, the cocktail hour room really threw me off. I thought there would be a separate room but it all seemed to merge into one. They also told me they would be able to accommodate 175-200 people but some tables would then be on the dance floor. It's a shame because I really did like the food there!

Fox Hollow is fantastic. I was there last December for a wedding. My newlywed friend said as a bride, she was satisfied.

Loved the Sumerly Rm at Fox Hollow was our 2nd pick... Historical Thatched cottage was nice but FH and I didn't really like the ball room it was rly small and we felt like we'd be too cramped. We also didn't like how far out east it was from where we live. Never been to the Riviera. If you want pricing for the other two halls FM me :)
