how about u can say something, and he can do the traditional vows.
not sure how it is in ur religion tho, so dont know if thats even allowed
me and FH cant do out own, but we are getting 18 mins alone time after the ceremony, so we will be saying things to each other then. what about this for u guys?

maybe you can do the traditional vows except for 'i promise to love, honor, cherish, etc' and write your own little blurb for that part together that's special to you two? that way you don't have to each say a long written thing but you can still have a special part that you both wrote?

and at the reception when he has a few drinks to calm his nerves.. he shoudl stand up and give a toast. thank ppl for coming.. and give alil speach about u. and how lucky he is etc etc
so they arent really VOWS but he will get up and thank your guests and say something nice about u

Thsi might be stupid... but what if you do traditional vws during the ceremony then before CH just you and FH go into the bridal suite alone and share vows you have written to eachother. This way you can share that very special moment between just the 2 of you. And He won't have to worry about getting choked up infront of people.
