Soooo, FH's parents were so nice that they gave us their timeshare for portions of our HM - they only thing they're not covering is the Maui leg of our Hawaii trip (because their timeshare is already booked for that week in Maui so they can't trade for us) and our airfare. FH and I are going to get both of those and we can afford one splurge - we can either get first class airfare the whole way home (which is like 12 hours + in the middle of the night) OR we can get a ridiculously awesome hotel in Maui (we would otherwise still get something nice, but not necessarily Four Seasons type of nice).
Which should I do? I can't decide!!!

I say the plane ride. My mom works for an airline and we always fly 1st class so I am partial to that.

AIRFARE!!! You can stay at the Hyatt in Maui and it is amazing...or the WEstin or Sheraton. You get 4 seasons quality without 4 seasons snobby feel (sometimes you get that feeling from high end places).

If your flight is in the middle of the night, chances are, you'll be sleeping and not enjoying everything 1st class as to offer anyway.....just my thought.

I'd go with the airfare. You're going to be in Maui! How much time are you really going to want to spend inside of your hotel room? Get a nice but not 5 star hotel and enjoy the tropical paradise outside of the hotel. Then on your way home, stretch out and relax on your comfy first class seating.

i think it depends on how long in Maui... i'm sort of partial to first class but if you have a long leg in Maui it might be great to stay in an awesome hotel.

Well here are some things that might help the advice:
1. I am DEATHLY AFRAID OF FLYING and will probably not sleep the entire way. Also, the flight departs Hawaii around 1pm, but arrives in LA at 9:10pm local time, then it departs LA at 11:15pm local time, and arrives JFK at 7:15am local time. So...I guess my body is only going to think its like 1am or 2am when I get into NY, if I am running on Hawaii time? Kinda confusing!!
2. We'll be in Maui for 4 nights and 5 days, so it's a decent length of time. We're also doing 4 nights and 5 days in Kauai and the same in Oahu + returning to Oahu for one night before our return trip home (but we will prob take a day trip to Lanai or Big Island one of the Oahu days).

Also, if you stayed/are staying in somewhere total awesome in Maui, please recommend!
