It looks like we may be going down to Florida for a weekend in May, probably staying in Orlando.
Not planning on a Disney vacation, just need to be near Melbourne florida where my family is.
According to Mapquest, Orlando is just over an hour from Melbourne and we can get a direct flight there. Melbourne has an airport, but can't get a nonstop flight to that airport.
Any hotel recommendations?

If you are doing Disney you should stay at a Disney hotel, if not, I love the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. The pools and restaurants are awesome!

I stayed at the JW Marriott and it was soooo nice!! A little on the expensive side, but we had gotten a great rate.

A couple of years ago I stayed at the Gaylord Palms (dont laugh, that is really the name...) for work, and it was only open a couple of months then. It is technically in Kissimmee which is VERY close to Orlando. It was beautiful! CHECK IT OUT

I go to Orlando every other week for business. The Sheraton Suites in Orlando or the Rennisance are both very nice and comfortable. They are right off of 528 and the B line and MAX 10 minutes from the Orlando Airport. They are in a hotel group with a Chili's, Tony Roma, Bennegins, Friday's, Dennys and a Hooters but thats pretty much it. Good luck!
