I'm looking for some good ideas on how to thank my mother. She basically put together and paid for my shower on her own. My MOH helped a little but didn't contribute much. Mom didn't mind at all.
Our family is going through a rough time right now as my father has gotten very ill, his cancer has spread and continues to spread very quickly throughout his body. We pray he will be there for the wedding in 7 weeks. My mother has dreamed of the day her one child would get married and now it is a mix of the worst of times and best of times.
I'm looking for a nice way to thank my mother for all she has done. I'd like to let her know how much I appreciate her. I would also like it to be something I do or make....not just buying her something nice.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'd love to put together a nice framed photo of my parents with FH and I but I don't know if we have a photo like that and I may not be able to get one. I'm looking for other ideas! THANKS!

Re: Need ideas for a way to say Thank You!
how about getting one of those frames that has spaces for a bunch of different photos (what are those called anyway) and putting pics of you and your mom together at different stages of your life, sort of showing her how she's been there for you so many times. and then maybe like a day at a spa or something to go with it.
good luck finding something.
and i will keep your dad in my prayers.

There's actually this book I picked up in Hallmark a while ago. It was sort of like scrapbooking for dummies, with all sorts of mushy mom stuff and places to put family pics. It's a really cool thing. Labor intensive, in that you really will be pulling out a lot of old photos, but I think it might be what you are looking for. I bought it years ago and haven't finished it yet (life got too busy and I got lazy), but I know when I do my mom will love it!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I will keep him and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
I like the photo ideas. Maybe you could also write your mom a letter/poem telling her how much she means to you and how you appreciate all she has done for you. You could print it on some nice paper to go along with the pictures.
Does this mean you had your shower already? I haven't been on LIW that much lately. I may have missed it. If so, I hope you had a great time!

That book is cute! I found it on amazon.com which let me see some of the sample pages inside. Again, I appreciate all of your help! My mother will love what I put together for her (she cries at everything and the big joke is how the church will be flooded on my wedding day b/c of her!).
Lisa, my shower is this Sunday. I'm not very traditional and I know about it.

I don't know if it's too pricey, but an oil painting of you and your parents (and siblings if applicable) is very nice.
