FH STILL hasnt thought of something to get for his dad for the RD. We're giving each parent a gift and we picked everyones but his!
I have no ideas and neither does he. Heres some things about FFIL: he's a big scotch drinker but he already has a lot of barware and engraved glasses, he's a retired cop, he's a county Legislator, he likes sports (golf, baseball, and football), and he's irish.
The thing is, we want to get him something that will mean something to him -- have some kind of sentimental value.
Any suggestions??
ETA: Can anyone name some good websites to find nice gifts for guys? We're thinking maybe engraved cufflinks or something along those lines...

Have you thought about getting him an engraved pocket watch? I know they are old school, but the girl I ordered my favors from said that its seems to be the 'NEW' thing to give people, especially when you want to get someone sentimental

If he's a county Legislator, how about something for his desk, or wall. Maybe even a pic of himself and your future husband when he was a little kid. Or how about your FH write him a letter along with the picture, and talk about his memories as a child with the best dad in the world etc. I'm thinking sentiment here. Not sure if your FH will go for it.

I like the idea of the picture of him and FH when he was little. That would really mean something to him.

That's what I'm giving my FFIL, Uncle, BM amd GM.... I have pictures in my album of the Pocket Watches.
I thought this was an awesome idea, but when I brought it up to FH he said his dad would never wear one So we're back at square one.

I'm going to check that out right now! Thank you!!!! I have an email in to FMIl to see if he has a pair already, but I really think that would be so useful for him since he's always out at formal events.

how about checking Things Remembered? They do all sorts of engraved things..not sure about cufflinks though...
ETS...there is also a golf store in Broadway Mall in hicksville, maybe you could find something there...HTH

So fr the ideas we're rolling around are an engraved frameand hankie. We were thinking about giving all parents G/C's to their fav. restaraunts. I got FH cufflinks from Ireland to wear the day of the wedding. Also, what about a nice bottle of scotch, something he wants but would never buy for himself. Good Luck.
