need ideas for my new years party

any clever food or decorating ideas? inexpensive please! we are staying in to SAVE $$!!!

You can get just about everything you need in Costco (at least food-wise.) They sell those big boxes of hors duerves and they always go over well. They also have tons of other frozen stuff (pizza bagels, skewered chicken, pot stickers, etc...) Get a couple different types of cheese and crackers/bread and have a crudite spread. And then of course have a variety of chips. What DH and I do when we're having big parties is, we'll pay for a keg and a bunch of soda, but if anyone wants alcohol or wine they need to bring it.
As for decorations, hit the party store, or even your local dollar store, and see what they have.

you could easily decorate with silver christmas garland around doorways, use silver balls hanging from lights/ceiling fans, silver napkins and tablecloths, get some pinecones and roll in glue and then roll in silver glitter.

Last year we did a heaven and H e l l theme. One room was blue, white and silver and another was reds, oranges and yellow. We got lights that matched the theme and everyone came in a color representing either side. People had a great time. We had a red punch in H e l l and a champagne in heaven.
