Need ideas for weekend getaway in October - Colombus Day weekend

Danielle and I are planning to go away for colombus day weekend. We will be celebrating my birthday that weekend and were wondering about going away...We are interested in going out East, Upstate, or to Pennsylvania...Please post ideas for us....and if you have any recommendations of hotels etc...Please post them here or Fm us.

We may go with another couple, but we arent sure yet.

We are going out to Montauk that weekend after our wedding. How about the Poconos. My FH's Aunt says that a lot of people go up by her that weekend to check out the leaves, she lives in Cheshire, Mass.

I would go to Dover Downs in Delaware for a long weekend,...or up to New Hampshire to check out the leaves, etc...

Or go to PA>..Amish Country, or somethin...

It is a bit pricey, but *mostly* inclusive & fun...well cheesy & laughable anyway...We like to go to Cove Haven or Pocono Palace in PA....if you google Ceasar's resorts, it should be the first or second listing on the page.

DH & I love it, we go 2x a year.

We go 2x a year to Paradise Stream also one of the Ceasars Resorts. Infact we are heading there in the morning for 5 days for the 2nd 1/2 of our 1 year annivewrsary vacation.

How about Philly? FH and I saw a 4 star hotel at thewaterfront for $61 on hotwire. (we have a wedding that weekend)

The Syracuse area has an apple festival every Columbus Day weekend. We went once (we each have a sister who lives in the area so makes it easier), it's nice, kind of like a huge craft fair but worth the trip for the delicious apple pies! We were thinking about going this year but dh isn't sure he has the Monday off from work.

We went to Lk George this labor day weekend and loved it. They have 3 steamboats that go up and down the lake - we did a 2 hour champagne brunch cruise which was great (only 1 glass of bubbly though - but the food was very good) and there's a 4 hr one and a daily lunch cruise too. Don't kow if nightlife is as good as in the summer. We also went to Ft. Ticonderoga which was interesting. It was 3/5 hours from the Bronx (driving at 70 most of the time).

I don't know if you want to drive this far, but I've always wanted to see Montreal. Vermont maybe? Boston? Philly or Hershey Park?

I don't have Columbus Day off.
