Need ideas on honoring my brother...

My brother passed away last year and I know that he would have liked to see me get married being that I was his only sister. I need ideas how he COULD be at the church and at the reception so he really be there. Any ideas would be wonderful. Thanks Ladies

You can have a photo of him at the Church & reception. You can wear/hold on to something of his. Have the Priest make a special intention to him.

You could also do a Memory candle with his name on it. You will find there are many ways to honor him. Sorry for your loss.

I also lost my brother and in his memory, when I get up to the alter the priest will anouce that FH and I will be lighting a candle signify that my brother is there. We will also be having a moment of silence. I thought about having a picture there, but I think that will make things too sad and emotional for me and rest of family.

I am so sorry to hear about your brother. How about having a prayer said before dinner? Or a song that he loved played in honor of him.

Did he have a favorite song or poem that would be appropriate as a reading, or is there a song that you could have read or played at the wedding? Did he have a favorite color that could be incorporated? Maybe you could have something in the program dedicated to him and his life?

i am not sure if you would want to do this but they have these necklaces which they make out of pics of people and the person's image goes on the pendant - they are nice - we just got one for my ffil of his late wife (they make a woman's version too - his aunt has one that is nice!) - they run about a hundred dollars but might be worth it if you want to wear it (and if it matches, etc)

just a thought.......

Thanks everyone. I never thought there were so many things I could do.
I especially like the idea of lighting a candle at the cermony. Do you think it would me everyone sad? Maybe I should keep it on a personal level.

whatever you do , you might want to run it by your mom and/or dad beforehand so they are aware of ti and it won't be too emotional - thats what we are doing wiht anything we are doing for fh's mom - giving his dad input and then chance to say 'no' since it will be a hard enough day already.

i think it won't be too sad if its doen right - everyone will pretty much know anyway, so honoring the person is a nice gesture - especuially since he was looking forward to your weddings...

i almost forgot - we ofund a song (its actaulyl by josh groban on his cd -i think track 5) and the words are so fitting that fh and i paln on palying it at our reception and asking everyone to join us on the dancefloor sicne hsi mom would have been dancing up a storm all night long....kida of a tribute too.....

if you need someone to talk to, fm me.....i know how hard planning everythign will be....
