I need some ideas ladies - a girl that I work with just lost her mother. She is coming back to work tomorrow and we wanted to put together a nice basket for her. We already sent flowers to the funeral home. She said that they have tons of food that people have been sending over. So, I'm out of ideas. Anybody have any good ideas as to what would be appreciated at a time like this. We thought about collecting money and giving it to her to help with some of the costs but I don't know if that is considered tacky. Please help. Thanks :)

Re: Need Ideas - Sympathy Package
One of my friends in college lost her mother and we made up a basket of stuff from bath and body works to help her relax...Along with a note saying how proud her mother would be of her and all she had accomplished.

Maybe add a funny book so she can have something to take her mind off things and make her smile?

My FIL passed away in January and the best sympathy gift we received as a family was gift certificates to restaurants and/or Boston Market. They probally have plenty of food now, but there will be days in the future where you just get into a slump and it sure is a relief to not to have to worry about dinner for an evening.

This is a really good idea! I agree!
Even if it's just a pizzeria, they probably wont' feel like cooking and sooner or later they will run out of the stuff that people are bringing.
