Hey ladies... I need your help. My phone contract is up soon, and I need your opinions on other services. Right now I have Verizon, and have never had a problem. Tonight I was told how good Sprint has gotten, and how they have towers on 25A from Queens to Montalk... Tell me what you guys think, and which one you think is better with plans and minutes and such.... Thanks for your help!!!

FYI Nextel is Sprint, they merged a while ago.
I have Sprint, but I do have dead spots on occasion. I've only had AT&T/Cingular in the past, which the service was great but the customer service was crap.
I don't know about Verizon, but my brother swears by it.

We have Verizon (in NYC not LI) and I do get dead spots often However, I had AT&T (now Cingular) and that was awful plus they have horrid customer service
I think T-mobile is pretty good (from what friends in NYC have said) and AT&T Cingular is pretty good outside of NYC (maybe LI).

I have had TMobile for 2 1/2 years and I couldn't have nicer things to say about this company. The service i great, the phones are nice and updated, the CUSTOMER SERVICE is spectacular and the price is right!
FH and I have a family plan with 1000 shared mins, free nights and weekends and free mobile-to-mobile for anyone on T-Mobile. $59.99.
I was with AT&T (which is now merged with Cingular) and had nothing but trouble from day one. Terrible service, tons of dropped calls and when I called to complain, they basically told me to screw off since I was locked into a contract.
Cingular tried to screw my brother when he signed a one year contract and within the first day he had phone service issues. He called to complain and they told him they wouldnt help him until he bumped up to a two year plan. And since he is 21 and naive, he agreed!!!

I had AT&T for 2 years but years ago & have had Verizon the last 4 years & never had a problem. I'd stick w/ Verizon.

I have nextel (Nextel and Sprint merged) and I HATE it!!! I get dropped calls all the time. I changed from Verizon because FH gave me a phone and a cheap rate through his company. I can't wait to go back to Verizon

From what I have seen, it seems like Verizon is really good. I have Nextel/Sprint and I would not recommend it....the plans are pricey and the service is not the greatest.

I just ordered our new Razr phones last night. We are changing service providers/phones.
I have been with:
MCI Wireless
AT&T which became Cingular and service became awful almost instantly
DH was with Sprint which is now Nextel
We have Verizon now on a 2500 family share plan and we have nothing but problems with Verizon and the LG VX6100 phones we have We had to exchange them both a few months ago for new ones and these are awful too. They both cut off for no reason when the phone is closed after a call. They keep saying it's a software issue and keep the phones for about an hour once a month to 'update' software DH got a new battery and it dies within like an hour. But he did leave it charging overnight (phone was off). Overcharging does kill the battery to the tune of $40 for a new battery.
The last straw was yesterday when I was telling a friend at work about my cell phone issues while sitting at the office. I had finished a call with a friend and it cut off while I was explaining to my coworker that it cuts off for no reason
We are going to try T-mobile family share 2000 (free trial period with new numbers) and if we like it we are cancelling the Verizon contract and taking our numbers to T-mobile. Many of my friends and coworkers have T-mobile and it works well for them all in NYC.

All I can say is Verizon all the way!!!! DH just transferred over from Nextel. I have had Verizon since I was 16! When DH & I were on our HM, no on but us Verizon customers could get service in St. Maarten & Puerto Rico!!!
I do get some dead spots but not many! We have a house in the mountains in PA & Maine & in both places I always have a full signal! I would not go with any other service!!!

My feelings eXACTLY!! But the only reason I keep it is because I get a cheap rate because a friend is an employee..but it really has gotten bad!!!!

Verizon all the way. I switched to them four years ago and couldn't be happier. Also, I live in NJ, work in the city, and am on LI all the time and I never have any issues.

Verizon is the lesser of all of the evils for us.
We have had problems with them, they can be kind of nasty on the phone and have kind of retarded ways of figuring out when you get a new phone, but besides that, they are pretty good. We've been in this contract for 2.5 years now.

If you travel, I've found with my parent's old cell, there black spots everywhere! Since they switcged to Verizon, they only lose coverage when they're out west in Utah on vacations.

Hmm. I am always interested in this opinion. I work for Sprint and since we merged with Nextel, they have not done anything different to the service. It could be that your phone is defective. I would go to a store and have it looked at.
The great thing about Sprint is the Fair and Flexible plans and the fact that they come with free roaming. So, even if you are in an area where our coverage is not good, you can roam on another network for no charge. I have had Sprint for 7 years and have had no problems with it!

I have Nextel and I HATE it!!!! I had Verizon in the past and never had a problem with them. I am going to cancel my service with Nextel and switch. I always get dropped calls...no matter where I am. Its horrible.
