I am having some kind of allergic reaction - not to gross anyone out, but for some reason 3 nights in a row I develop hives all over both breasts (not on the nipple or areola though) after I either feed her or pump. For some reason this doesn't happen during the day, only at night. I take a Benadryl and it is gone by morning. I am going to a dermatologist for lack of any other ideas on Wednesday, but this is really troubling me. It's definitely allergic type welts, not yeast or anything like that. Also, I feel like I am suddenly making less milk, which has me so sad because I am not ready to stop breastfeeding at 3 1/2 months. Unfortunately DH is a lot less than supportive and I'm losing it. Does anyone know a good chat room for breastfeeding moms? I've checked a lot of websites for answers, but the only rash they seem to discuss is yeast. Thanks -

Re: Need Lactation consultant type help
I HIGHLY rec'd you go to see a LC, not use an online group for this. I saw Dawn Frank, South Shore Lactation in Babylon. Call her 631) 587-1197 asap!!! It was worth ever single penny I spent to have her help me. I would not wait at all. IMO, if you are having supply problems you don't want to wait because they do not self-correct.
Are you putting ANY cream on your breasts? That could be what you are allergic to.
I am very sorry your DH is NOT supportive. Maybe he should go with you to the appointment with her. She can help ease his mind of any concerns he has about breastfeeding and explain how important it is to you and your baby.
If I can be of any support let me know!!!

Re: Need Lactation consultant type help
thanks for responding. I had the allergic rash sunday night, then worse monday night, and tonight it has not happened yet. I don't use any creams at all. I can't figure out what did it, and I don't know if it has anything to do with my supply problems. I will call your LC this week if I continue to have problems. Thanks for your help!
