OK so we have our top 2 places...The Inn at New Hyde Park and The Venetian Yacht Club....only problem is that the Inn is way over our budget for a sat night so we would have to compromise and have a sunday afternoon/night wedding whereas the VYC we could have a sat night. I dont think you could compare the two i LOVE the Inn but I dont love a sunday wedding the Inn is also giving us alot more for our money... the food is incredible.. plus they are giving is the option of having a seafood boat or Viennese hour included in the price plus intermezzo in between the app and main course. Plus at the inn they give you alot more choices to individualize any aspect of the menu/wedding its really ALL ABOUT YOU... plus my fav upgrade that would have to get... vodka infused snow cone station .... what does everyone think??? a sat night or sunday, ceremony starting around 3 and cocktail hr at like 5? is the sunday a bad idea??? HELP!!

Re: NEED OPINIONS
if you don't like Sunday how about a Friday night, they are usually cheaper. You seem to really love the Inn more than VYC by what you wrote...just an idea.

Oh well...I would go with the location you like better, than the day....after all that is where you will have your actual wedding...but that is JMO! Good luck!!

Re: NEED OPINIONS
I'm Jewish and doing a Sunday wedding, because in the summer, sundown on Sat. night is way too late. My ceremony is at 6 at RH, cocktail hour immediately after, we are treating it as if it were a sat. night.

Re: NEED OPINIONS
I am an INN bride too! I had to go over our budget to make a Saturday happen but somehow we will manage. If you really think a wedding at the Inn is what you envision and want - go with the Sunday. It is a new place, it is beautiful and, think about it, the outdoors definetely looks better during the day so with a Sunday wedding you can take advantage of the earlier hour and the sun shining into that big ballroom. Good luck and feel free to FM!

Re: NEED OPINIONS
How about a Saturday afternoon? I had to pick Saturday afternoon because of the high evening minimum number of guests. That way, you get your place and your date and it will be much less expensive!

Re: NEED OPINIONS
I'm not sure, it depends on the place, but is it possible to get the Inn to take out some of those extras to bring down the price a bit? Just trying to think of ways for you to get what you really seem to want!

Me too - Jewish and doing a Sunday wedding for the same reason. We're doing Sun afternoon though, because I love daylight and it's easier for our guests.
I'd go with the place you like -- you get so much more for your money on a Sunday too!

Re: NEED OPINIONS
I've never been to the VYC. I had checked out the Inn when planning my wedding, and they definitely are very highly priced. But the place is really nice.
I'm not a huge fan of Sundays weddings at all, so I hear where you're coming from. It works well for the bride and groom because sure they take off the next day, but as for guests, a lot of people have work, and a lot of people tend to leave a Sunday wedding earlier because of that - something to keep in mind cause if you're doing a viennese hour, the wedding would be longer, but there will be some people rushing right out of your wedding.
Is it possible to do a Sunday wedding on a holiday weekend? Like Memorial Day Weeked or Labor Day weekend, where most people are off that Monday? I know there are people who complain about having to go to a wedding on a holiday weekend, but I actually don't mind those so much cause I really never go anywhere on holiday weekends. So people might complain amongst themselves, but most will come and stay the night.
It's tough cause there's no way to please everyone. So definitely please yourself! If you really, really want the Inn, then go for it! Try to get them to come down in the price by cutting certain things out if you can. Or maybe look at some other places which might fall between VYC and the Inn. Like something that is just as pretty as the Inn, but has reasonable prices like VYC.

I agree. It sounds like you really love everything about that hall & also I don't think a Sunday is that bad, people will still go.

Re: NEED OPINIONS
I would go with location over day. Seems like you fell in love with the Inn so i say Sunday at the Inn.
When we were booking our vendors we based everything on what we were in love with the most and where we felt the most comfortable.
Hope that helps

Re: NEED OPINIONS
I know it's hard to find a RH but I would recommend you continue to look for a place that meets all your needs. It just seems to me that you would be settling if you went with either place and you should absolutely LOVE the place and get married on the day you really want.
I just don't think this is an area you should compromise on... it's one of the biggest expenses of the day.
