Re: Need Opinions of Various Vendors

Hey Thrilled!

We are JAs as well. We checked out Gray Studios, Patken, and Michael O'Neill, and ended up booking with Michael O'Neill. FH didn't like that Patken was pushing us to leave a deposit, felt they were just in it for the sale, blah, blah, blah. I've heard good things from them on this board though. We were both impressed with Kathy's presentation as well as the fact that they custom print and can play with the exposure of pics. Call us naive, but she really took the time to explain the process, which impressed us both. I only know if 2 girls on this board who have used him, but both were extremely pleased. We just took our e-pics, and will pick them up this week. As for Gray Studios, while their pics were beautiful, they totally rushed us out of their office when we met them. They left us with their albums, and then came back with a price sheet. That was pretty much our experience with them - not a good one. I don't know about Ray O'Connor or Northern Exposure.

Flowers: We checked out Towers Flowers and Flowers Michele. Towers handled all floral arrangements for my FH's mother's funeral and he said they flowers were beautiful. They wanted us to pick a bouquet from an album, didn't seem that you could vary from that much, and were double what we were quoted from Flowers Michele. Plus, John from FM, is GREAT! I highly recommend checking him out.

Sorry this is so long - hope I didn't confuse you more.

Re: Need Opinions of Various Vendors

Hi Irenie - UGH! I looked like HELL that day. Hair pulled back, gray T-shirt, jeans, sneaker and FMIL in tow. How embarrassing! Did you decide if you were going to go with them?

Re: Need Opinions of Various Vendors

Paiz - I too, liked Kathy at Michael O'Neill very much. She was so warm and personable and I liked their stuff very much. FMIL thought they were a tad high (I had no idea what to expect) but I liked them. They also told me that they had someone come in inquiring about 8/9/03 already, and not to pressure me, but to just be aware. I'm afraid by the time we have looked at everyone else and made our decision, they will be booked. Guess that's how the cookie crumbles.

Re: Need Opinions of Various Vendors

thrilled...I used Towers Flowers...the owner is a very good family friend...and I attended their wedding at John Anthony's - so you will be sure that he knows John Anthony's very well..

He is fabulous and has a great staff...You don't have to pick the bouquet out of an album...they have books for people who are not sure of what they want...and then they make notes...but you can do whatever you want...or bring in a photo and they will replicate it...they only show you the books so you can look at some examples...

the flowers at my wedding were amazing...I cannot rave enough about them...and he is so professional...as a guest he put the flowers on the cake and noticed pollen on my bouquet and ran over so that it wouldn't get on my dress...

he is genuinely a really nice person...and they do great work...

Re: Florissima

Florissima was the only florist i went to who made a sample just for me when i was just pricing them - that impressed me right away.

Another dissapointment:
They were even supposed to take the extra fabric from my BM dresses hems and wrap the hand tied bouquet stems with it - i even got into a fight when my BM's didn't get their dresses hemmed when i needed the fabric - and they didn't even use it for our wedding day bouquets.

I hope that everyone's experiences with them are going to be more positive!!!

Re: Florissima

irenie19, jenny11.9 & thrilled:

I was at Florissima on Saturday too! Around 3pm! My centerpieces (there were two on display) were on the front 2 tables in the back room..... I wonder if they are doing similar flowers for all of us, and are showing all of us the same centerpieces. What do all of yours look like?

Unbelievable!!!

Re: Florissima

They brought out my centerpiece (I only know that because I peeked as I was waiting and it wasn't there). My centerpiece was lavender roses and white roses it looks more like a christmas wreath since the wedding is near the holidays. It also had silver balls.

If you saw it you can be perfectly honest and tell me what you think.

Post Edited to add this:
Thrilled yes I think I saw you then and you looked fine . I was the one with the entourage (two short ladies and a tall guy).

Re: Florissima

Irenie,
I did not see yours (sorry) but what did you think of them? were you happy with their work? mine (there were 2) were both high centerpieces one was different shades of white/cream/peach with the clear glass vase with a floating orchid. the other had a lot of green hydrangea (too much IMO), orange roses, and purple flowers (I forget their names) with stock, and sticks coming out from the top. I told Aubert what I didn't like about it, and now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, hoping he'll come through for me. I think we are not communicating so well with each other! Good luck!

Re: Florissima

october that high one was mine too?!?!? For mine it was supposed to have some more branches and candles hanging frm them. I am a little upset - not that I mind sharing a sample with you....but I thought we were all a little more individually handled than that!

Either way I was thrilled w. the arrangement. We'll see what happens on the 9th!!!!

Re: Florissima

October girl.
You are not going to believe this but I personally saw Aubert creating your sample. I know because I love hydrangea and and can't have it for December b/c its not in season. I also noticed it because it had lavendar roses. I saw him making it as I was leaving.

I wasn't exactly thrilled with my piece. It wasn't what I envisioned. I too am keeping my fingers crossed. I know that sounds horrible but I have only have 2 1/2 months to my wedding and can't really afford to start over.

Re: Florissima

jenny, i agree. that is a little dissapointing. especially, now i realize why the centerpiece wasn;t exactly what i wanted. it was probably a combination of what we wanted separately!! was yours the white one or the color one? i saw the color one on wednesday and i thought he was going to make changes to it, and then on saturday it was exactly the same as it was wednesday. i am not into all that hydrangea and green-ness!!! i felt like every time i explained to aubert what i didn't like, instead of listening to me, he did what he thought was best. did you find that in dealing with him??

Re: Florissima

Re: Florissima

I booked Patken and we were never 'pushed' into leaving a deposit, if so I would have got up to leave.
I liked Patken's style, to me they were different than the others, however, its all a matter of your own taste.
Steve, my photogrpaher, will do any photos I want, and whatever I don't want, all I have to do is say the word.
