I just bought one of these popcorn poppers and I want to make some. But do I just add the kernels or do I add oil as well.

Re: Need quick help!

I have that popcorn popper .. ours is a WhirlyPop .. but I know there are others just like it on the market.

We have the packets, that come oil on one side, kernels & seasoning on the other .. so there is no measuring.

Anyway, I put in the oil first, then add the kernels. I swirl it around to try to coat everything evenly .. then put the lid on. Then turn on the heat to medium, and start gently turning the crank. After about a minute or two, the popcorn will begin to pop .. continue turning the crank, until you can't anymore .. do not force it!! Turn off the heat, and you're all done.

(I lift and shake the pot randomly throughout the cooking process .. especially when the crank can't be turned).

Have fun!!! We love that popcorn!

If you don't have the packets that are pre-measured .. you can get them at Target. Otherwise .. put just enough oil in to cover the bottom .. and when pouring in the popcorn, same thing .. it's enough to cover the bottom. Not sure what it measures out to .. since I've never had to measure.

Re: Need quick help!

Your welcome!!!

By the way .. the popcorn I get from Target, that's in the packet, is not what actually came with my Whirley Pop .. here's a link .. and it's on sale .. think I'll have to order some for myself .. we did prefer this to the brand from Target .. but that brand is good, too. (That 'other' brand from Target is called 'Back to Basics')

Looks like I found a better deal...
