I just booked the Belvedere hotel in times square for a great price including a buffet breakfast! I booked it for my mom and sister but they havent gone yet but from the looks of it, it is very nice!

If you want to share a room. I stayed at the Southgate Towers fro my bachelorette party. It is across the street from Penn Station (very convenient) and all the rooms are mini suites. The room we had had 2 full bathrooms a kitchen living room (wiht pull out couch) and separate bedroom with 2 full beds. It was great for us. It would sleep 6 comfortably (I think we had 8 - 2 girls on the floor
In August it was about $119 per night

I second the Belvedere. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location!

Also try the Paramount and Wellington hotels.

I stayed at the Shelburne Murray Hill (which is owned by the same company - Affinia- as the Southgate Towers). It is an all-suite hotel and we fit 6 comfortably. It was less than $300 a night total and in a nice location (east side). All of the Affinia hotels are suite hotels (or most of them anyway) and are reasonably priced. We stayed for my bachelorette party and it was perfect!

whenever we do an overnighter in the city, we usually book through hotels.com (is that still a site??).

I was just going to suggest the same hotel. I stayed there for 2 nights when I took the Bar exam and loved it.

Any of the Ian Schrager hotels!
The Paramount and the Hudson are my favorites

Edited to say: I also really love The Time Hotel.
