Need Recommendations for Nassau: Highlighting for hair

For the last few years I've gone to Nubest, but I think the price is a bit too much for me now. They want $165 just for highlights. Anybody go somewhere else in Nassau that they can recommend? My hair is very sensitive, tends to turn orange easily, so I need someone good.

Also, now that I'm a mommy, it is tough to find time to go for these types of things. I am thinking of maybe getting chunky highlights.... would this be less upkeep? Any pics of chunky highlights people could post? I have brown hair, but like to go blonde. Thanks.

I actually went to Supercuts and they were pretty good. I paid 45.00. Maybe Ulta?

When I lived in Nassau I went to the Daniel Joseph Salon in N. Masspaqua. My highlights, cut and blow dry were only $90.

I don't know about chunky highlights so I cannot help you there, but I would think because they are 'chunky' they would have to be maintained more often.

I go to Marcucc in Malverne. I have been going there for years. In fact, they did my hair and make-up for my wedding.

Anyway!!!

For a full head (highlights and lowlights) I paid 150. For a half a head I paid 80. It's funny, you never see a price list on the wall...I always wonder where the prices come from.
I use Lisa for color and I highly recommend her. I have brown hair and always put a little bit of blond highlights in it as well.

My SIL used to go to Nubest and another friend went to Harvey Allen...both

The Palace is a 'hair factory' in Franklin Square. I tried them once and I guess they were good, definately cheaper, I paid 75 dollars for a full head of highlights, haircut and blowout. I haven't gone back to them because I'm used to my girl.

Salon D'Arel in East meadow/N.bellmore border, they are on N.Jerusalem. Anyone there is good. Last time Cindy did my highlights and also Al, the owner has done mine too. All of the stylists are good there.

I go to Ben Paulino on New Hyde Park Road (2nd floor) just over the RR tracks (Stewart Manor). Gail is awesome. They are a bit stiff (about $125) but she is great!

I go to Joanne at Friends & company in Rockville Centre! She is awesome. I just went a little 'chunkier' for the first time and it looks great! To keep it low maintance... don't make it too drastic from your natural color... I go every 2-2.5 mo. Also, my hair is chemically straghtened and her chemicals don't interact or ruin my hair... (I had poblems at other places...) good luck

I use Gina at Hairsay. It's on Jericho Tpk in New Hyde Park. I've used April also, she's good as well, but Gina's my favorite. It's an Aveda salon.
