I would like to get together with my friends for dinner this Saturday for my birthday. Anyone can recommend a nice restaurant with good food that you like? I am open to any sugestions: french, italian, morrocan, indian, anything! the time is running out!

Tony DiNapolis is a great place for groups...its family style Italian. Great food too!!

LOL! we went there for our NYC GT in September! It was really great, but I wanted to try something new! You def have the right idea though!

For Indian, Baluchi's is pretty good with groups.
If you want French style (but not really fancy french) there is a place called Bistro, I think on 11th and 6th Avenue... The food is decent, but sometimes if they're busy, service is slow.
Or you can try Gonsalez and Gonsalez for Mexican...
If you want to be adventurous and try Ethiopian food (eating with your hands) there is a place on MacDougal, just north of Bleeker and across from Comedy Cellar. I think its called Meskerem or something along those lines. The place is tiny, so if your group is very large, may not be for you...

Awesome awesome mexican food, incredible killer margaritas. It's on 38th and 3rd... (and 37th and 3rd, they have two sides, a texas side and a mexcian side. Texas side has more of a bar area).
I looooove it there!

Avra is an awesome restaurant...if you like greek food.
I like Angelo's in Litty Italy too.

I went to a GREAT Tapas place for my Bday. I think it is called Pipa, it is in the upper twenties, I think. Great Sangria, and delicious food. Fun environment, too.

Ruby Foos is great for groups too...it is kind of asian fusion food... and really yummy!

Solera - 52nd and 2nd (i think double check) Tappas -
East of Eigth - 28 th btween 7th and 8th very good food nice back (heated) garden very reasonable pre fix menu.
I agree Ruby foos (51st and B'way) next to carolines is pretty cool the drinks and food are good and I love those lazy susan tables.
New York Magazine has a website that I use all the time to look up resturants - try it out.

I've got plenty of suggestions, but do you have a general part of town in mind?
If you like Mexican, Miracle Grill in the village is one of my all time favorites.
I also wanted to wish a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my birthday twin!!
my favorite place for get togethers is La Paella on 9th btw 2&3
its a Spanish tapas restaurant...since DH is Spanish we have been to almost every Spanish restaurant in NYC and this is our absolute favorite...and the sangria is better than anything I have had in Spain...
the great thing about tapas is that you can order tons and everyone just shares...its very social...great for a GTG
La Paella has a great area for groups downstairs...but La Sala is our second favorite...on Bowery I think

Turkaz is a great place - turkish food with belly dancers and cool tables. Plus it is fairly reasonable. on 100th & Broadway

Le Madeline( 43rd and 9th) is nice. They have an indoor garden. My favorite resturant Rachel's(9th btwn 43&44 ). Artisianal which has great fondue. The Hourglass Cafe on 46th Btwn 8th and 9th is really cute. That's all I can think of right now. Happy Birthday!!!!!!
