need ring advice...

need ring advice...

so i told my fiance what kinds of e-rings i liked, and he got one custom made for me.

i do love it, and it is what i wanted, but there are a few things i would have wanted a little different, now we are searching for wedding bands and we both are dancing around the fact that we wish the e-ring was a little different.

i CANNOT flat out say that i want it changed, i feel like it would break his heart.

so i guess my question is... is it possible to alter a custom made ring? or would we need to start all over again?

basically it has channel set side stones, but the band is pretty wide, and the channels are pretty thick. i would have wanted it as thin as possible.

getting upset just thinking about it

If he had it custom made, he should be able to go back to that jeweler and explain how you'd like to alter it before the wedding, while also picking out a good wedding band to go with it. My jeweler in Manhattan does this all the time. The only time it would be an issue I would think is if he bought a premade ring from somewhere.

ITA I don't see why they wouldn't be able to alter you ring. Good Luck!

I totally understand how you feel!! I had some ring issues...

I've had my ring altered twice already...the way I see it, I have to love it forever, every time I look at it. And he's just happy that I'm happy with it. It sounds kinda selfish , but FH knows that I get crazy sometimes about having things perfect!! I'm sure your jeweler would help you out in some way. Good Luck!!!

My ering is at the jewelers as we speak getting altered. I wanted something pretty specific. I wanted to be able to wear an eternity band flush up against a 6-prong ring like Tiffany's and he missed the boat on that so I brought it in to a different jeweler than the one he got it from and he is fixing it. Anything might be possible..if you ask.

i totally understand what your going through!
I was very involved with designing my ering.
i wanted the thinnest band possible

DH bought me a ring when we first started dating that was so thick it looked like a mens wedding band.
and i hated it

I would explain to him, that you want it thinner
tell him it hurts your fingers and you can't close them all the way and its uncomfortable.

Even though it's not what you wanted...just want to say I think it's beautiful. I'm sure a jeweler can fix it though. They can do some amazing stuff. Just make sure you go to a good one so they don't screw it up.
