Ok how is everyone wording their invitations. MY mom seems to think that the 'proper' was is to say Ms. so and so cordially invites you to the wedding of her daughter ,brides name to grooms name. She wants to leave out FH's parents because FH's parents arent doing a lot for the wedding though they have done little things like give me favors and make silk bok's for me. Me and FH want to word it Ms. so and so cordialy invites you to the wedding of her daughter, brides name to grooms name, son of .... MY mother seems to believe that there is only one way to word it and it has to be her way. so my question is anyone else feeling this way, having this problem , or simply how r u wording urs. All the help will be greatly apprieciated.

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
Honestly I havent even put to much thought into it yet. I did see one that I liked..the diff is that it is me and my FH inviting...nothing to do with the parents..even tho they are both contributing to the wedding. I guess its up to you, not them

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
You could do it this way
Ms. So and So cordially invites you to the marriage of her daughter
first middle name
to
FH first middle name
son of Mr. & Mrs. blah blah
this is showing respect to FH's parents while showing that your mother is the one paying for the wedding

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
his parents are not contributing, so ours will say
mr & mrs xxxxxxxxxx request the honour of your presence at the wedding of their daughter Nicole to Richard Mxxxxxx, Jr., son of Richard and Jxxxxx Mxxxxx
HOWEVER, FMIL wants it to say 'Mr & Mrs (Brides parents) and Mr & Mrs (groom parents) request the honour of your presence...etc'
I don't think so!!!

are you paying for the invitations? if you are then she really has no say...i understand her being upset that their names are on it but they brought your FH into the world and raised him to be the man he is now...they deserve at least SOME recognition

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
both our parents are contributing so it'll be something like
Mr. and Mrs. XX and Mr. and Mrs.XX
request the honour of your presence at the wedding of their children

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
we are paying for the wedding ourselves but out of respect for our parents we are putting:
Mr and Mrs Brides Parents
request the honour of our presence at. . . .
bride
to
groom
son of Mr and Mrs Groom's parents
*even though we are paying for our own wedding I am very traditional so i like this way the best
but as with anything with wedding planning you can do whatever you want!

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
FH and I are paying for the wedding but want to have both parents names on the invitation out of respect. We are wording it:
Mr. & Mrs. brides parents and Mr. & Mrs. grooms parents cordially invite you to the wedding of their children
Bride and Groom

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
FH's side is doing nothing for us. They have not even called or do they ever ask how things are going?? Or do we need help with anything?? I was back and forth on this myself. But in the end I decided to keep all happy. We are doing Mr and Mrs ******* Invite you to the wedding of there daughter Cathleen to James son of Mrs ****. Something along those lines.

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
I am very traditional is certain aspects and this is one of them, though you should do what you want since it's your wedding. We are paying for the entire wedding ourselves but our invitation will be worded as such:
Mr. and Mrs. so and so cordially invite you to the wedding of their daughter ME to FH son of Mr. and Mrs. so and so

this is how i would do it. if you mom needs convinving maybe you could take her to an invitation place or write dear abby ( ) or something to convince her. or just tell her that's the way it is.

Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP
My mother was such a pain in the butt about this too! She had to have 'Mr. & Mrs. so and so' on it to. I told her it would go on the invite along with his parents, because I wouldn't feel right about not adding their names too, but AFTER our names. It's not the parent's wedding, so for me at least, putting their name first on our wedding invitation was not about to happen.
