Need some advice

At the end of December my coworker told my boss that she wanted to begin looking for another job in 2006. My boss came to me right after and asked if I wanted him to hire someone else or if I wanted to do the work myself and get a 'huge raise' (his words). I opted for the huge raise. He finally let her go last month. Her last day was over 4 weeks ago. I still have not received a raise nor has he even discussed it with me. He is paying her until the end of this month. Her last check will be May 3rd. What I need advice on is wether I should wait until next week to say something. I mean I am really pissed because it was his decision to pay her. I have been handling the work just fine without her. I am very busy for most of the day, but none of the work gets neglected. Also I get really nervous when I have to talk about these kinds of things. How should I begin the conversation? What should I say? Any advice is greatly appreciated. TIA

Get in front of your boss and ask when you can expect your salary increase. Really no need to beat around the bush.

Make sure you have a figure in your head - it seems that your initial conversation was a bit vague about the 'huge raise'. Do some research on salary.com or another salary web site so you can find out what fair compensation would be. Then go in there and show him what you found, remind him of the conversation, and ask him when you should expect to see the increase.
