Need some advice please

Need some advice please

So on monday we booked at the Swan Club for July 2011. Now at first I was excited to finally book but at the same time the decision came with the huge doubt I had hanging over my head about the ballroom being too small and me just not liking it as much as everythign else. All week I've been thinking about this and finally tonight I broke down to FH. I love the venue and while it has the feel we wanted I just feel like when we pick a place i shouldn't have any doubts and should feel 100% happy with the decision. Also, I really really wanted a beach wedding or at least somewhere right on the water and I just feel like I'm settling.

So anyway...I think we decided we are going to head back to LI this weekend to look at some more places. We also talked about making major cuts on our guest list so we can afford the beach wedding I always wanted.

Do you girls think I'm nuts or what? Because I feel like I'm being rediculous :P

EDIT: Also if anyone has any great beach wedding locations for about 125 let me know!

Did you put a deposit down? Do you know if they will refund your $?

we actually haven't even signed the contract yet (we live in CT and they mailed us the contract this week). I'm hoping that because the contract isn't signed yet we can get our deposit back and cancel. I was planning on calling them tomorrow.

I don't think that you're being ridiculous. If you are having doubts than maybe check out a few more places to see if you find another RH. The only thing I would be concerned with is if you end up losing your deposit. If so, then you and FH will need to decide if you are willing to lose the amount you put down. My RH isn't on the beach -- it's on the water but worth checking out online. It's called Old Field Club and is located in Setauket. If you have any questions, let me know. Good luck and keep us updated!

You put down a deposit but didn't sign anything? I've never heard of that. Do you know their refund policy, or if they have one when it comes to deposits? I just got screwed with a deposit myself, but that was with a signature and with dresses, not a hall. The only thing that I can suggest, is whoever is the better talker, whether that be you or your FH give them a call. Maybe go on the 2010 board, I know there are a few Swan Club girls on there. Good Luck and definitely get the wedding of your dreams, Don't settle!!!

You're not being ridiculous. I'm actually going through kind of the same thing (although we haven't actually put the deposit down yet). We've seen a few different places and my FH is set on Cresthollow Country club but I don't have the feeling. That said the price at Cresthollow is great.

I think ou can see what you get back but, no matter what if you're not in love with it you should keep looking. You'll be spending alot more $ on the entire wedding & should love your venue!

not at all! it's your day, your ONE day...you should be happy with everything- the hall is one of the most important things IMO, it sets the tone for the entire day.

check out
Land's End
Crescent Beach Club

they are the top two that stick out in my head for beachy weddings in LI

agreed with all ladies above.. i am going through this right now... after i booked, i went to a showcase in Sept @ another hall and fell in love with this particular hall.. in fact, im obsessed with it... lol and so is FH , its the only hall he exactly said 'WOW' to...

planning on speaking to BM in order to make it work for us ....FH is mostly considered with price... the worst thing you can go do is force it ... all the halls on LI/ NYC are beautiful, the questions is Can you see yourself there? Your vision of your wedding day will influence what wedding reception hall you should choose.

beach wedding on LI ::::

Gurney's Inn
montauk yacht club

bear in mind, venue above as $100+.... if we want to be near water but not pay so much depending on season/day... try Chateau La Mer or Riveria,

Re: Need some advice please

i know some of the Lessings owned locations have beach weddings ... check out lessings.com for ideas.

disclaimer: i haven't actually been to any of these places, but i hear they're nice and that lessings owned places take pretty good care of their brides

you aren't being ridiculous at all. I actually did the same thing! lol we booked somewhere and ended up getting our deposit back because it wasn't on the water and that's all I really wanted (a RH on the water)
try checking out
Crescent Beach Club (actually on the BEACH... private beach)
Chateau La Mer
Land's End
The venetian (gorgeous view of the robert moses bridge)

you should really have no doubts about your hall. DONT SETTLE! This is your big day! You dn't want to look back and keep saying what if!

Good luck!!!!
