Need some help

Need some help

So tonight we went and met with the church for the first time. Originally we were planning on getting married in the hall, but later then decided it was important for us to get married in the church. So everything went well. The date is available, but the only problem is the the latest time on a Sat afternoon is 2pm. Our coctail hour begins @ 7pm. What should we do?? Isn't that too much time in between??? What will our gusts do?? Do you think we will be charged overtime for the limos??

Any suggestions???

TIA

do either of you live near the church or even the hall, maybe you can have some of the church guest go to one of your houses for an 'in between' gathering until the hall. this way you can go and get majority of your pics done then and then you can enjoy the party more???

try and woprk something out with the limo guy...bc you may be hit with overtime charges and that can get hairy!!!

good luck!!

i think that way too much time ...the time people spend wating for cocktail hour a reception could of occurred i think its just way to long to make guest wait especially if they are traveling....not to mention the cost of your limos... maybe u can find another church that has a later time

My ceremony is at 3 and CH starts at 7 so I am in the same boat. If there is a family member that would be willing to kind of host a get together that is somewhere in between the church and hall see if that would be possible.

THats what we are doing

Yea that is a big gap...I dont have any suggestions tho....thats a hard situation to be in....but if its a church wedding that you want..then do it...they will figure out what to do for those few hours

Ahhh... one of the dilemmas from booking the hall first... anyway they can bump the ceremony to 3 PM... that way you won't run into 5 PM Mass??? Or perhaps the hall can bump you up an hour???

But I think getting married in your church is more important overall...perhaps you can have a full Mass which will eat up a lot more time than just a ceremony. you can also do a full receiving line... and perhaps you could even use the extra time to get photos done with your guests...because you will probably not get to everyone at the ceremony.

i would see if you can use the hotel bar or something for a light lunch (you could order in heros or something) if you can bump back the times...)

the pros are that you have plenty of time for your pictures and you'll be able to be there for your cocktail hour... actually, i almost wish i had your problem... i have a FULL long Mass starting at 11 and a cocktail hour starting at 1! EEK!

GOOD LUCK!

If your having OOT guests then maybe it's a good idea to have everybody go back to the hotel bar

We would have had this problem even if we booked the church first. We were set on the hall we wanted before we even picked a date or anything and this is the latest the church offers.

I am going to speak with my hall and the limo co tomorrow to see what they can do.

I am also going to call the church where I grew up and see if they are available and what time. We would just have to get a letter from our parish.
